About this property

Luxurious 3 B/R Beachfront Condo!!

Hacienda Tres Rios Resort is located 40 miles south of the Cancun airport on the Riviera Maya coast of the Caribbean Sea about 6 miles north of Playa del Carmen town. The condo is in La Herencia which is a small 12 unit building located close to the beach. La Herencia guests are provided with a personal butler located in the lobby of the building who caters to your every need. You will also have access to the private rooftop bar with evening appetizers, morning continental breakfasts, two hot tubs and a magnificent view. High-end luxury and world class dining is available in 5 specialty restaurants. You will enjoy warm hospitality here. Explore jungle trails, swim in the rivers, discover hidden cenotes, 2 pools and the warm Caribbean Sea. Take the resort shuttle south to the wonderful restaurants and shops on famous 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen or to the beachfront boutique sister resort (Sunset Fishermen) for a day. This reservation is for the European Plan which means you order food and drinks from a menu at individual prices. If you wish, you can change to an all-inclusive plan when you check-in, at additional up-front cost. Enjoy this beautiful beachfront family resort with its' endless luxury concept, located inside an eco-park at the Mayan Riviera. It offers the perfect balance between nature and comfort. A variety of water sports and eco-activities for all. The resort provides 4 a la carte restaurants (business casual dress code for indoor restaurants reqd.), 1 buffet, 3 bars, 24hr room service, after dinner shows, live music, gym, full SPA, private yacht club and day camps for teens & kids, gourmet meals, snacks & premium drinks, daily & nightly entertainment, non motorized water sports, scuba demo, and airport pick-up available. After looking at many condos in the area, we chose Tres Rios because of the uniqueness of the property. Tres Rios was built on the site of three rivers and close to half its 326 acres are devoted to a nature preserve, with some 90 animal species, 120 plant species, and 10 cenotes on site. It embraces the natural landscape. The activities offered at Hacienda Tres Rios are not just your typical beach volleyball and aerobics (although those are provided).. Many of them center around the nature reserve, with a highlight being a cenote tour and walk that ends with you swimming downstream in a cool, clear river, a provided mask allowing you to spot crabs and fish moving along the bottom. You can also kayak up the river and swim in the deep cenote at the end, or take the kayak down the coast to land on a different beach. You can go on a guided bike tour or segway tour of the nature reserve.

Spring Break Vacation for family of 5

To start I will say we had a great time overall at the resort and in the area. We had a good blend of pool time, shopping time, adventure time. We were a family of 5 (2 kids) and my mom. The condo was great, with enough room for everyone. It is spacious, has a nice view and is close to the pool and beach. Having the butler available for requests is nice, although we didn't ask for much. It's a little difficult to decipher what is included and what is not, but being in this building definitely gets you some "perks". The resort is cool with a significant mangrove forest to walk/bike through. We visited the cenotes, which were cool, but not as amazing as I had envisioned. We played volleyball on the beach and snorkeled (trip to the nearby reef). There are always activities going on around the resort, which is nice- water aerobics, sushi making, towel folding, dance class, Mexican night, Caribbean night, performances, etc. As I read in other reviews of this resort, the beach is a little disappointing. Since we are not huge beach-people, it wasn't that big of a deal, but just know there is a lot of seaweed in the water and at the waterline, so we didn't even enter the water at this resort. We went to their sister-resort in Playacar and got a little beach time there instead. There are spots to get in the water, but we didn't try that hard. There is a free shuttle van to go to town (only in the morning), but not back. Cab rides cost approx. $20-40, depending on the size of cab you get. With 5 of us, we needed a large cab which basically costs double a standard cab. The only disappointment of the trip was the food at the resort. It is not great. I'm not sure why they don't try a little harder, but everything was quite bland. We tried all 5 restaurants and felt the best was the Asian one. We had most of our meals at The Grille, by the pool, which was nice and open-air. If you are a vegetarian, or a "foodie", this might not be the best resort for you. Our best meals were in town. We went to Tulum for the day (~ 1hr. 45 min. away) which was nice. Bring your swim suit to swim on the beach. We went to Xel Ha for the day (~1 hr 15 min.). This is a huge water park and shouldn't be missed. AMAZING!

We live in Flower Mound, Texas which is a suburb of Dallas. We fell in love with Playa del Carmen and the surrounding area after coming down here on our honeymoon 35 years ago. We love to scuba dive and explore nature and the outdoors.
