About this property

Mirage, Modern 5 Br Flat With 360° View Over Florence By Halldis

Modern apartment with 360° view over Florence located in the Duomo area. It is ideal for short or long term rentals. It can host up to 9 people, has 5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms.

The public bus service in Florence is provided by "Ataf".
The nearest bus stop to the house is on via Vecchietti about 3 minutes walking distance, and the bus n° is 23.
Otherwise it is always possible to call a taxi calling one of these numbers: +39 0554242 or +39 0554390.

The apartment is located within the Duomo district in Florence’s historic city centre. The Duomo area constitutes the very heart of Florence and the area takes its name from Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome on the wonderful Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. The Duomo neighbourhood offers an array of beautiful historical buildings and superb piazzas including the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its attractive cafes, patisserie shops, live music, street performers, and caricature artists. Furthermore, the area is surrounded by the city’s main cultural attractions, notably Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Bargello Palace, and Casa Buonarroti, the former home of Michelangelo, not to mention the Uffizi Gallery and the museum dedicated to the city’s cathedral “Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.” The area also has much to offer in terms of fine dining and exclusive boutique shopping. The top Italian fashion houses are located along Via Tornabuoni, Via Calzaiuoli, and Via del Corso and include the famous names of Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani, Versace, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tiffany & Co. and many more. For those choosing an apartment in this area, the Duomo quarter also offers several delicatessens otherwise known as “alimentari,” supermarkets, laundromats, and gift shops as well as being adequately served by local public transportation.

Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact a private garage. Thanks to the private garage you will obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

Great location! Needs a deep cleaning

Fabulous location in the heart of Florence. The apartment could be amazing but needs to be thoroughly cleaned, dust abounded throughout the apartment and the sofa especially. Apartment lacked any toilet paper when we arrived so we needed to go to the store immediately. As other reviews have stated, the beds are hard. You can feel the springs hard. Lots of stairs so not suitable for young families (no lift). Just a little more care and upkeep and this could be a great place.

Excellent Location!

The location was excellent! It is very central to all the activities in Florence. The overall cleanliness was ok, but we had to wash down counters and items as they were not cleaned when we arrived. We were unsure if the cleaning crew came between us and the prior guests. Linens were clean and fresh! Be sure to bring your own toilet paper and trash bags if you are staying for more than a couple of days. They only provide enough to get you started. The hosts were friendly and would provide assistance via WhatsApp. However, compared to the hosts we had at our next stop in Sorrento they were just ok. We were having issues reserving a taxi for the last morning and we requested assistance from the host to book it for us, but they only provided a phone number to call to contact via WhatsApp. It was a bit stressful as we didn’t want to miss our train. In the end, we figured out how to call and did get a taxi. Overall it is a good apartment for a family or group as there is plenty of room for everyone and it was comfortable once we figured out how to use things in the apartment.

Almost perfect - good value

This is a difficult place to rate. It is not 5 stars but it is deserving of more than 4, but that isn’t an option. On the plus side the property has a fabulous location. Easy walking distance to the major attractions, grocery store near by, lots of dining options. The roof top terrace has a spectacular view. The apartment has 5 bedrooms so great for a group. Living/dining area is more comfortable than it looks in photos. From a value perspective, you are not going to be able to replicate the location and number of beds for this price and maybe it deserves 5 stars on that basis alone. But it isn’t cheap and the apartment shows the wear of usage. We could not get dishwasher to work, door handle came off bedroom door, front door needs a knob, the unit has laundry (a +) but the dryer didn’t work, the clothes line contraption was a wreck, the table on the roof terrace is about to collapse, there is no freezer so you can’t store ice cream or make ice, the bedding could be of better quality, better pillows, living room sofa is not really comfortable, refrigerator shelving not really great (taped together) Lamp shade in bedroom damaged. A/C could be better. The overall point is the owner needs to reinvest in the property to keep it up to the standard one paying these prices would expect, it has the potential to be exceptional. Final note - this unit is not suitable for anyone with walking issues. This a 102 stair walk up - fine for triathletes but not for grandparents.

Great Location; Everything Else Was Not Great

I always like to start with giving my "flowers" (the pros) where they are due. It is an EXCELLENT location. Mere steps away from the Duomo and very central to walk around the city. A lot of great food and shopping options nearby. It also has a cute little rooftop with a great view. Now let's talk about the cons: (1) It's a 5+ floor walk-up which is pretty brutal. You can see others refer to this in their reviews. This is something likely common with a lot of apartment rentals in Florence but 1st or 2nd floor vs. this can make a big difference. We happened to all have a lot of luggage and this one was a beast. (2) One of the rooms has a skylight and seemingly there is a mechanism (and corresponding remote) to close the blind but it's broken. So one of the couples in our group went 2 nights having to deal with that / sleep through it then the last night they put a soccer flag up there as they had no alternative (not much help / pretty amateur). (3) And this one was frankly the most frustrating to me, but the A/C wasn't really working when we first arrived. So the first night was pretty brutal for everyone. They came the next day and fixed the A/C for the most part except for one room. Unfortunately, that was my room. I run hot and this was 2 days after I got married (disappointing). They told me they did their best but could not fix and left a little fan in the room. They also suggested (no joke) that my wife and I sleep on the couch. RIDICULOUSLY bad customer service.
