About this property
Haytongate Cottage - Two Bedroom House, Sleeps 5
This rustic stone cottage, with lots of original features, sits in an idyllic rural setting with views of nearby meadows and Hadrian’s Wall and is perfect for exploring the local area. Head out from the front door on a beautiful and fascinating walk along Hadrian’s Wall Path, which passes by the cottage, or explore the area by bike on ‘The Roman Way’ cycle route close by. Learn about Roman culture at the visitor centre at Birdoswald, once significant base for 1000 Roman soldiers, just 4 miles from the property. Spend the day at the vast boating lake and grounds of Talkin Tarn Country Park, 4 miles away near Brampton, where you can try windsurfing, canoeing, or rowing, visit the tearoom and gift shop, and go for a pretty woodland stroll. Carlisle (13 miles), Brampton (3 miles) and Haltwhistle (13 miles) are all within easy reach with a wonderful range of shops, attractions, pubs and restaurants to visit.
The cottage has a comfy open plan lounge/dining room with sofas, a wood burner for chilly evenings and French doors that lead out to the patio, a well-equipped modern kitchen, and a shower room with a large shower and WC on the ground floor. Up the stunning twin wooden staircases at either end of the living area are the two twin bedrooms – one of which can be made up as a king-size bed – and a small gallery with a sofa bed, another cosy place to sit and relax or sleeping space for another guest.
Nestled within its own private garden, the patio is the perfect spot for enjoying drinks and meals alfresco soaking up the stunning views with only melodic birdsong to break the peace. Guests staying at the property also have access to private woodland that's situated close by, with several walking trails and perfect for walking your dogs. There’s also bike storage and a drying room, ideal if you like to get out into the great outdoors, whatever the weather.
