About this property
Perfect for Westport, Newport, Gweenway and more
This quirky cottage was originally built in 1836 as a school house and has been affectionately renovated while still keeping its original charm and character features, such as exposed stone walls and sloping ceilings. It is full of charm in every room with stunning views out to the sea and Croagh Patrick in the distance.
Located just 3 miles from Westport town, this property is ideally located for exploring the market town of Westport, Newport, up to Achill or down to Connemara – numerous day trips to be enjoyed.
Spend a day in beautiful Westport town – take in the great music in the pubs, head to the theatre for a show or explore Westport house with the deep history and gardens, to the brand-new activities at Westport Adventure.
Or head to Newport, enjoy the lovely cafes and take to the Western Greenway. Or enjoy the stunning beaches of Achill. You can literally walk to Carrowholly Riding Stables from the front door or just a 2 minute drive from Westport Golf club. There are a number of looped walks to enjoy and you can go swimming from Rosmoney pier.
There is so much to enjoy near this house that we could write a book! But of course you could just relax and enjoy the views in the beautiful garden of the house.
This cottage has plenty of space for all the family. You enter into a small hall with a spacious living room to your right – this cosy room is perfect for enjoying TV with an open fire.
At the back of the house you have a further room with dining area, cosy stove and double doors out to the beautiful garden. Off this room is the kitchen which has everything you could need during your stay. Also downstairs you will find a double bedroom with plenty of storage, views of the garden and sink. There is also a bathroom with bath.
Upstairs there is another double bedroom. There is also a very large bright, split level triple room (3 single beds) with cosy chairs to enjoy the stunning views out to sea – keep an eye out for the local seal colony. There are also board games, books, and DVD player for the younger ones to enjoy. There is also another bathroom with bath and shower.
This is a really great house for the whole family. There is plenty of space inside for everyone to relish and a beautiful garden and lawn to enjoy.
