About this property
Handcrafted Grain Store Yurt in Somerset woodland; off-grid relaxation, campfire
Escape to our handcrafted Grain Store Yurt on the edge of our 3-acre woodland in South Somerset. This little hideaway is the most beautiful, peaceful place to relax. It's an ideal off-grid experience for anyone seeking the peace of a digital detox or couples on a romantic adventure.
You're welcome to explore our woodland, meadow and wildlife ponds; we've even set up some benches and stargazing points for you to discover!
The yurt and woodland kitchen have all been hand crafted by Tom Dunbar, a master thatcher and craftsman. Inside the yurt, you'll find a comfortable double bed and romantic fairy lighting. There are extra blankets and hot water bottles for colder evenings.
Try some rustic cooking on the campfire or on the stove in the woodland kitchen. Pans and griddles are all provided. We even have marshmallows for you to toast!
The woodland kitchen has a gas camping stove with a grill, and is well stocked with crockery, cutlery and utensils. It is fully enclosed, so you are sheltered in case of wet weather. There's a wash station in the covered deck area and a solar-powered shower. The water is heated over the fire or stove, and the solar panel powers the pump, once the water is ready. Screens surround the shower for complete privacy. We'll provide lovely soap and towels. A great off-grid experience!
Keeping with our sustainable ethos, we've got a compost toilet! It's been handcrafted (again) by Tom Dunbar into a beautiful woodland archway.
Keep an eye out for all the local wildlife, including Tawny owls, many birds, butterflies, dragonflies and bees.
During your stay, you will have exclusive use of the Grain Store Yurt, woodland kitchen, campfire, picnic area and close-by compost toilet. We have a solar panel, which powers the lighting, charging points and shower.
Parking is available near our house with a short walk (300m) across a field and through woods to the Grain Store Yurt. We'll provide a wheelbarrow for you to easily transport any luggage. If the weather has been rainy, we'd recommend bringing wellies!
Guests with limited mobility are welcome to drive up the track to access the yurt.
You will need to bring your supper (unless you're eating out) but all crockery, utensils and firewood are provided. Breakfast is included; the woodland kitchen will contain lovely things such as homemade bread, a choice of cereals and local apple juice.
If required, additional water, 240v electricity points and broadband internet access are available by our house. If you need anything else, please get in touch. We're very happy to help.
In case of wet weather, there is a two-burner gas camping stove with a grill in the woodland kitchen. Also good for boiling the kettle without having to wait for the campfire to get going!
Children can stay if you book both the grain store yurt and our thatched roundhouse together. Please see our separate listing or get in touch to discuss.
