About this property
Canny Grouse Barn, Kirkby Stephen, Yorkshire Dales
Canny Grouse Barn is a detached stone built retreat situated on picturesque moorland within the village of Nateby, a stone's throw from the thriving market town of Kirkby Stephen. This rural area, yet never too far from places to explore is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and those of an energetic nature who enjoy cycling, walking and rural pursuits, with the wonderful added benefit of providing accessible accommodation throughout the ground floor should guests require it. Featuring a purposely designed wet room, electric bed and moveable kitchen units offering wheelchair users both independence and a much needed escape to the country with family and friends of all ages.
This delightful property was converted from the original hay barn in 2023 and now boasts comfortable accommodation for six guests and is perfect for those seeking to relax in after a day spent exploring the sights of Cumbria or villages and market towns of the Yorkshire Dales National Park such as Hawes in Wensledale and Reeth in Swaledale. Relax on the window seat in the kitchen watching the sheep as they graze or spend the evening over looking the fell with a wander up to the well placed bench to watch the sun set.
Canny Grouse Barn welcomes guests from the covered parking area into the spacious hallway from which leads to the impressive open-plan living area boasting exposed stonework and beamed ceilings, large ground floor bedroom, wet room and utility room, each with widen doorways to accommodate easy access for wheelchair users. The dining area and well-equipped kitchen is graced with large windows looking out towards the views and bi-fold doors giving smooth, direct access out onto the enclosed patio seating area. On the first floor are two further bedrooms each with their own en-suite and snug for those wishing for some quiet time or younger generation (there is even an old style x-box and games to enjoy).
The ground floor accommodation and its surroundings have been arranged, if needed, for wheelchair users, providing a reassuring and relaxing stay in this quiet setting on the boarder between North Yorkshire and Cumbria. The wet room has been expertly designed to create a user friendly space with two different level sinks for electric or manual wheelchair users, raised WC and grab rails. Bedroom one features an electric super-king size bed that can also become twin beds on request, dressing table with wheelchair access underneath and low level hanging space, whilst the kitchen has movable units for under worktop access to the hob and sink area with ample room.
Outside underneath the covered main entrance, there is a dog wash and cleaning area for walking boots and bikes with hot and cold running water, secure bike storage with electric sockets and patio area with table and chairs for six guests to enjoy dining in the Yorkshire countryside whilst listening to the wildlife that surrounds this stunning destination. ''We are firm believers that the countryside and our holiday accommodation should be available to as many people as possible. To that end we have planned, designed, and introduced a selection of features to help you enjoy the property, and make as much of it accessible as possible. However we do understand that everyone’s needs are different, please ask for more detail to see if our holiday accommodation can offer what you are looking for'' Owners, Canny Grouse Barn
