About this property
Casa Santini-Quiet 3 bedroom house in Ortigia by Cala Rossa -20mt from the sea
On a quiet road a few steps away from the sea and Cala Rossa secluded beach, this luminous independent house that goes from ground floor to roof top, has been designed to make your holiday in Ortigia unforgettable.
The house is the product of our family's love for Ortigia and the vision of our local Architect Ignazio. The house has been fully renovated with meticulous attention to details, keeping the old features and adding all comforts and modern elements to create an elegant and calming space.
LAYOUT
The house has 3 double bedrooms (all with Air Conditioning) and 3 bathrooms, a kitchen with an island and an open living space making it ideal for families or a group of friends. From the balconies and the rooftop terrace you can enjoy the views of the surrounding historic buildings, the sea and the quiet street below.
The house runs through 3 floors plus the rooftop terrace. From the front glass door you’ll be led to the ground floor where the steel designer staircase will take you upstairs. As you approach the 1st floor you’ll see inside the living space through the glass wall.
FIRST FLOOR
The living area with sofa and poufs to relax, and right in front the kitchen-dining area with high ceiling exposed beams and ambience light.
The living space has got big french doors with shutters opening to the long balcony which runs through the whole length of the house. The kitchen has been designed as a space to cook together and socialise, with a spacious and inviting layout. We want our guests to feel like this is their home, have a glass of wine with the local cheese and olives while cooking together the fresh products sourced at the local market. The kitchen island has got the hob with integrated extractor fan and a spacious worktop for you to use.
On the other unit you can find integrated oven and microwave, fridge and freezer, and cupboards to store your products.
The table is just in front of the island so you don’t have to travel far!
On the left of the kitchen you’ll access the wooden built-in double bedroom, where everything is custom-made to create a feeling of a snuggle place (we'd like to feel like we are in a sailing boat when we sleep there). On the same floor there's a bathroom with a walk-in shower and access to the balcony.
SECOND FLOOR
Going up, the staircase will lead you to the second floor landing that goes into the other two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, shutters and private balconies. One of the bedrooms has got a walk-in wardrobe as well.
To the other side a wooden staircase will lead you to the rooftop terrace.
ROOFTOP TERRACE
Before or after a day of visits, the terrace is the ideal place to relax; have your breakfast there and watch the sunset sipping local wines and savouring the gastronomic specialities. The aperitif at sunset is a must and will win you over.
The terrace has got a sink, worktop and build-in benches for you to sit
The road is very quiet despite being very close to the centre, and you can ear the waves coming and going. We love to seat there in the evening listening to the sea.
At the ground floor there is a laundry area with washing machine and a deep sink that you can use to rinse your beach stuff and toys
From floor to top the house will be all for you - just bear in mind that has got lots of steps as it runs through 3 floors, so if you've got mobility issues or you prefer to stay in one level it might be tricky to walk up and down. Also, the stairs to the loft are steep, so children of a young age need to be supervised.
Enrico, Sebastiano and Olga, our local super team, will be happy to help you during your stay, giving you tips and advice to live the place as the locals do! Whenever they can they will welcome you at your arrival, and they will be available throughout your stay.

About the host
Hosted by vittoria santini

My partner Darren and I fell in love with this location during our first holiday in Sicily nine years ago and we really wanted to create our own place here. Fast forward to 2021, during a trip with our newborn Lando and our 3 year old Lorenzo we saw this house, which was rundown and in need of repair, but with a little bit of imagination we could see the potential. Despite the fears and obstacles of managing such a big project from abroad, we made it! Our Sicilian architect, Ignazio, helped us blend the historic features and give contemporary elegance. Our love for design is evident in every corner of the house, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere for our guests.
Why they chose this property
We love the feeling that Ortigia has. We wanted to be close to the sea, as it's beautiful, and you can go for a dip all year long. We also wanted to find a quiet street, that you can leave the windows open and only hear the sound of the sea.
What makes this property unique
What truly sets Casa Santini apart is its intimate connection to the sea. You can fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the waves, enjoy breakfast on the terrace with panoramic views, and take a few steps to dip into the crystal-clear waters. It’s a place where you can fully immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquility of Ortigia.
