On road parking. No smoking.. Nestled in a charming, wooded valley, Monthly Tutor’s Cottage is a Grade II listed gem just 100 yards from the sea in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire. Identified by CADW in 1976 for its historical and architectural importance, this cottage, built between 1810 and 1815, cannot be altered in any way. Extensively restored in 1986, it features walls nearly a metre thick, constructed from quarried and sea-washed stone, and originally lime-washed. The Georgian-style windows with twelve panes are wedged for adjustable ventilation. This historical treasure is only 65 yards from the sea, reflecting its rich shipbuilding heritage. The cottage offers a perfect blend of character and modern amenities, making it an ideal base.
The ground floor boasts a well-equipped farmhouse kitchen/dining room. Relax in the cosy living room featuring a wood burner, comfortable seating, a flat-screen TV with DVD player, and a selection of books, games, and jigsaws. Upstairs, the main bedroom offers a double bed and vanity unit, whilst the second bedroom features twin beds and a vanity unit. Outside, the lower garden includes a woodshed for storage, with logs for the fire, a barbecue, and garden furniture. The two gardens and orchard receive sunshine all day, providing a serene space to unwind.
The cottage’s location offers easy access to scenic walks along the river, up the valley, and around the coast. The nearby coastal path leads to Goodwick, where a daily ferry service crosses to Ireland. Several small coves around the bay are perfect for fishing and exploring rock pools. Fishguard’s lower town, known for its picturesque views, has been featured in films like ’Under Milk Wood’ starring Richard Burton. The area is ideal for exploring Pembrokeshire’s golden beaches, stunning coastal views, and the 280-mile coastal path. Monthly Tutor’s Cottage is a perfect retreat for couples and families seeking both adventure and relaxation in a historical setting. You also have six pubs within a 300-yard radius. Beach 100 yards.
