About this property
La Dolce Vita - Testaccio Authentic District 2
A cozy home where you can relax from the hustle and bustle of the busy roman streets, a hidden jem in a strategic and very central position in Rome: the renowned Testaccio district, a historic and beautiful area in the beating heart of the Eternal city.
Testaccio, whose name derives from the homonymous hill on which it stands, is an authentic neighborhood, with a popular and welcoming soul.
This hill also known as "Monte de 'Cocci" is actually artificial, formed as a dump of amphorae in Ancient Rome. It consists of millions of shards from terracotta containers, mainly used to contain grain, oil and wine, which were first sold, then emptied and then thrown and stacked.
Born at the end of the 19th century as an industrial area intended to house factories that would have characterized the industrialization of the capital, it is a symbol of the new industrial archeology and best represents the union between ancient Roman traditions and new trends.
Despite the continuous evolution, Testaccio has always managed to keep its genuine, simple and familiar spirit unchanged, becoming over time the quadrilateral of culture and Romanism par excellence.
Chosen for important film sets, an urban development laboratory and a symbol of Capitoline modernization, Testaccio is also at the forefront of Rome's cultural production.
