About this property

The Elms - a house that sleeps 10 guests in 5 bedrooms

Tastefully styled and beautifully decorated throughout, plush furnishings and luxury abound to create a truly wonderful space for celebratory soirees and lavish holidays with family or friends. Guests can look forward to elegant, light-filled living spaces with high ceilings and bay windows, outrageously beautiful bedrooms, and touches of decadence throughout including a deep, free-standing roll top bath in one of the top floor bedrooms. A magnificent established garden with its sweeping lawn lies to the front of the house and has stunning estuary views which can also be enjoyed from all the home's sea-facing rooms.

With all you'll need to enjoy sheer relaxation, the house offers a modern fully kitted-out kitchen and dining area, with five bathrooms including two en-suites, a family bathroom and wet room. On the ground floor, a fabulous entrance hall leads to the grand double sitting room with tall bay windows and views over the garden. This impressive room has plenty of comfortable seating for everyone to socialise with a large working fireplace and a smart TV. Off the hallway, the modern kitchen is open-plan with the dining room, and has two breakfast bars where you can gather together to discuss the day's plans over coffee. Doors open to a sunny enclosed courtyard garden with a table and seating which is lovely and quiet – the ideal spot for unwinding in the fresh air.

The home's original staircase leads to the split-level first floor with three gorgeous bedrooms that include a king size en-suite with sash windows and estuary views, and a large en-suite with a super king bed (which can convert to a twin) with a big bay window, estuary views and its own shower room. The fabulous Master suite, which is also found on this floor, has wonderful views from its bay window, as well as a spacious en-suite bathroom with a ball and claw bathtub with overhead shower. On the two remaining floors are a family bathroom with a contemporary free-standing bath and separate shower, a delightful twin which is perfect for families with children, and a double room with a luxurious bathtub positioned right beneath the window with beautiful estuary views.

The Elms is situated in a superb location with the coast path lying just beyond the grounds at the bottom of the garden, which means guests can easily explore the beautiful surrounding scenery on foot with walks to the stunning dog friendly Porthkidney Sands (less than one kilometre away), Carbis Bay and St Ives. The famous Hayle estuary bird reserve can be accessed 200m from the Elms over the public footbridge at Lelant Station, a great place to spot rare migrating birds.

Lelant itself is an attractive traditional village nestling adjacent to the Hayle estuary and is within easy reach of the area's most popular beaches and towns including Carbis Bay, St Ives, Hayle and Gwithian. There's an upmarket atmosphere to its pretty streets, with a handful of terrific eateries including the must-visit Scarlet Wines and Old Forge restaurant just a short walk away. The award winning Ugly Butterfly by Adam Handling located in Carbis Bay Hotel is a spectacular setting for a special occasion and coastal restaurant experience.

The St Erth train stops at Lelant Station just 200m from the front door which is a stunning trip along the coastline to get to St Ives and Carbis Bay if you fancy a change from driving. The well-reputed West Cornwall Golf Club, the oldest course in Cornwall founded in 1889, is three-minutes' drive or a ten-minute stroll up the road for those who enjoy 18 holes with a view. Visitors are very welcome all year round.

Some of the best surfing in Cornwall can be found fifteen minutes' drive across the Hayle Estuary at the beautiful National Trust beaches of Gwithian and Godrevy where the Gwithian Academy of Surfing is located. There are also Surf Schools and water sports at the Ocean Sports Centre at nearby Carbis Bay beach.

This property is thought to have been the birthplace of famous Cornish author Rosamunde Pilcher who penned the famous novel, The Shell Seekers.

Lovely house in great location
The house and location are stunning. The kitchen - dining space was awkward and difficult to get a large group around the table. The bedrooms each with an ensuite were excellent. Some of the fixtures weren't great. A very cheap ikea curtain rail kept falling down and tickets were left on cushions. It would have been good to have warning about access to the building. We were driving a camper van which only just got through the gate posts and the steep slope into the driveway is challenging, particularly when arriving in the dark! There was no signage to the house or road name so it was very difficult to find in the dark. We loved the location, the views and the railway journey to St Ives and nearby stunning beaches. The bedrooms each with an ensuite were excellent.
