Located just a short drive south of Nether Carness is Glencoe, famous for its rugged mountains and the battle between the Macdonalds and the Campbells. North of Ballachulish is Fort William is known as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK." there are various outdoor adventures, Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK, attracts hikers and climbers from all over the world. Whether you’re an experienced mountaineer or a casual walker, the breathtaking views from the summit are worth the effort.
For those seeking adventure, the Nevis Range offers skiing and snowboarding in winter, and mountain biking and hiking trails in summer. The gondola ride provides stunning views of the Great Glen and surrounding areas all year round.
From Fort William you can take the Jacobite steam train, also known as the Hogwarts Express over Glenfinnan Viaduct famous for its appearance in the Harry Potter films, it is advisable to book in advance if you are unable to book it is still worth going down to Glenfinnan and watching the Jacobite train go past.
