"Casa Sofia" is a spacious apartment in the charming town of Menaggio on the shores of Lake Como. From the large furnished terrace, you can enjoy a splendid view of the garden and the mountains and, for your relaxation, there is an outdoor pool shared with other tenants. Additionally, to provide maximum comfort, the apartment is equipped with air conditioning. This apartment is ideal for spending your vacation days in complete serenity.

There are 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two single beds, and 2 private bathrooms with showers. Take a leisurely stroll along the lakeshore and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the lake. Outdoor enthusiasts will find a paradise in Menaggio. The surrounding area offers a myriad of activities, from hiking and mountain biking in the nearby mountains to water sports like sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the lake. Nature lovers will also appreciate the abundance of hiking trails leading to breathtaking viewpoints, allowing you to fully appreciate the natural beauty of Lake Como. Menaggio is also a starting point for exploring other towns and villages around Lake Como. You can easily take a ferry to visit Bellagio, Varenna, or Tremezzo, each offering its own charm and unique attractions.
GETTING AROUND
For convenience, we recommend that our guests arrive at the apartment by car. Public transport is less convenient, although there is a bus service, ASF line C10, connecting Como to Menaggio.
In Menaggio, you will also find the pier, where local ferries will take you to Como, Bellagio, Varenna, and other towns on the lake. Please note that during peak season, there may be long queues at the ticket office. Tickets can also be purchased online on the Navigazione Laghi website. There is also a ferry that transports cars. From Como San Giovanni station, there are regular trains to Milan Central and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno). From Como Nord Lago, there is a railway connection to Milan Cadorna. The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio Al Serio in Bergamo. It is possible to arrange a direct shuttle service to and from the airport at an additional cost. TIPS
We recommend dedicating a day to visiting the wonderful towns around the lake. Como city is the urban center of the area, but the towns are gems with beautiful lakeside villas.
To move around and stroll by Lake Como, especially in the small towns, it is necessary to wear comfortable shoes.
There are many public drinking water fountains in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise indicated. Tap water is also drinkable. You can bring your refillable bottle with you!
If you are looking for a relatively easy hike in the area and still want to enjoy mountain views, the Greenway del Lago di Como is an easy-to-follow trail that connects the lakeside villages from Colonno to Griante and does not require much climbing. A bus will take you to the starting point in Colonno.
Look for traditional restaurants to sample local foods, such as dishes based on fish from Lake Como.
In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services close in the middle of the day, so be sure to plan your shopping accordingly.
Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. However, for those who wish to take a dip in the water, there are some options. There is a beach (lido) in Menaggio. Locals and visitors also enjoy going to Nesso, where the more daring swimmers can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall. The Lido di Bellagio and the pebbly beach of San Giovanni await those who want to travel and explore the beautiful town of Bellagio, which is located in the center of the two branches of the lake.
Lake Como is located in a mountainous region. The surrounding Prealps do not seem very high, but the climate is still influenced by the nearby mountains, and temperatures can change rapidly. Pay particular attention to weather conditions during hikes and bring warm and waterproof clothing!
