Heavenly hideaway - detached Couples retreat near to Langport, Somerset

NEW! Mead Chapel, a stylish and boutique, detached holiday cottage, sleeps 2 guests and one small well behaved dog. This quirky converted chapel offers modern, comfortable accommodation, just perfect for couples looking to enjoy a unique holiday. Mead Chapel is beautifully set amidst the picture-perfect Somerset village of Drayton, with an excellent village pub restaurant just a few minutes walk!
With central heating throughout the chapel provides a restful and elegant getaway whatever the time of year.
Radiating a timeless charm, the sleepy village of Drayton has streets lined with a mix of period cottages and impressive larger houses and also a charming a 15th century church. Not only is there a friendly pub restaurant walking distance, but the nearby villages of Curry Rivel and Langport are just a short drive away and offer a great choice of independent shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, as well as riverside activities along the river Parrett.
There are beautiful nature-walks starting right from the doorstep Of Mead Chapel, offering plenty of scope to explore the Somerset levels and nearby Dorset.

Entering the chapel through the original double chapel doors, there’s stone floor hallway with space for coats and muddy boots etc. Through the next set of double doors the ground floor opens out into a stylish, vaulted sitting room with comfy sofa and a dining area. The solid oak floor then leads on to a well equipped kitchen and modern shower room with large walk in shower. In the lounge you can snuggle on the comfy sofa with your morning coffee or a glass of wine; there’s also a smart TV to keep you nicely entertained, a Bluetooth speaker to select your favourite soundtrack, along with a selection of books to browse.

When it’s finally time for bed, simply head up the stairs to the carpeted mezzanine bedroom. Furnished with a kingsize bed dressed in designer cotton linens, you’re all but guaranteed a sound night’s slumber. On this floor there’s also a chest of drawers and a second TV. For guests needing hanging space, there is a rail and hangers for this in the cupboard next to the dining area on the ground floor.

The modern kitchen is equipped with electric oven, induction hob, microwave, fridge and Nespresso coffee machine.

To the front of the Chapel there’s a picnic table for enjoying your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. To the rear of the Chapel is a lockable shed in case guests would like to bring bikes.

Parking.
Although guests are unable to park directly in front of the chapel entrance, there’s generally a parking space opposite or anywhere along School street or in the village Main Street. All free of course!

PETS.
Please note that 1 small - medium well behaved dog is welcome to join you during your stay at Mead Chapel. Guests are requested to keep their pet off of the furniture and on the ground floor of the cottage, thank you for your cooperation.
Please note that the garden area is not fenced.

A very warm welcome awaits our lovely guests! And to make your stay extra special we always leave some fresh goodies - croissants, milk, tea, coffee, coffee pods, biscuits and of course a bottle of wine. We also leave a few rolls of loo paper, washing up liquid, bin liners, kitchen paper and foil etc. as a starter pack.

Unfortunately the Chapel is not suitable for children or babies.

Please note that only the 2 guests mentioned in the reservation information are permitted to stay at the Chapel.

Fantastic place

Wonderful property in a lovely village. Plenty of attractions in the surrounding area. Village pub about 200 metres away. During our stay there was a busy market in the village hall on Saturday morning. Our host was most helpful and the welcome pack was most appreciated

Beautiful cottage

Just got back from a three night stay at this beautiful converted chapel. The cottage is as gorgeous as it looks in the photos. Clean as a whistle, warm and cosy. Everything you could need is here plus some lovely little touches. The bed is super comfortable and the walk-in shower is amazing. The check-in was seamless and we were greeted with a lovely treat of wine, pain au raisin, coffee pods and fresh milk. There are lots of interesting things to do in the area and we can thoroughly recommend the Kitchen at the Wharf cafe in Langport.

Oodles of Charm and Character!

Unique experience to stay in a converted 20th century chapel. Very clever design that keeps in with the character of the chapel( original stained glass windows) whilst ensuring all the homely comforts such as power shower , coffee machine, excellent wifi and mod cons all provided. The owner has taken pride in making sure the furnishings are of a fine quality. Just right for a restful romantic week away from it all but set in a historic and rural part of Somerset. Easy access from the M5 tooThe owners are very responsive and will try to ensure your stay is positively memorable. Neighbours are also friendly with a number of dog walkers too! A warm, fresh and clean Chapel that has oodles of character and decorated to an excellent standard that brings a smile to your face on entry. I scored several hubby bonus points with the Mrs who looved staying here....
