Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: Flushing is a delightful coastal village resting in the west of Cornwall. Across the Penryn River from Falmouth, the village offers a prime location for a coast front adventure surrounded by beautiful scenery. With the port being constructed in the 18th century by the Dutch and the Queen Anne style houses built by ship captains in the past, you can expect to see charming and unconventional architecture, perfect for observing at any time of year. Within the village itself you can expect to find two inviting pubs, a wonderful restaurant offering great food and views of the coastal sunsets, a local store for all of your self-catering needs, a church, school, bowling green, and even the historical landmark of the RNLI Fitzroy Barometer, presenting the local fishermen history of the area. If you fancy a day out at the beach, Flushing can offer that too, with its very own hidden gem boasting beautiful views over Falmouth and a lovely sandy area to stroll, be sure to head here for a family fun day out, with the dog being welcome to come along too! You can also find a sailing club where you can see yacht racing and get amongst the locals for a real community feel. Just a short drive away is the vibrant town of Falmouth, also offering a beach as well as a castle, maritime museum, beautiful gardens and plenty of wonder to explore, it's well-worth a visit. With Penryn, Truro and Reruth all a reasonable distance away and offering even more fantastic amenities, Flushing provides the perfect base for exploring all areas of Cornwall.
