About this property
Birkenside Cottage: stunning luxury cottage in heart of forestry reserve.
Experience paradise with a luxury off-grid family retreat:
Birkenside Cottage is a peaceful haven, located at the end of a track, in the midst of a forestry reserve, in the heart of the Scottish Borders. With two comfortable bedrooms, a modern kitchen, stylish living room with wood burning stove, the cottage offers off grid living with luxury trappings. The garden is generous, bordering a forestry reserve on three sides, & fields on the other. There are no neighbours, no one overlooking, no noise to mar your peace.
The cottage has been tastefully furnished to ensure a feeling of quiet luxury and comfort. While away a rainy day with our selection of children's toys and board games, return to a simpler time with our collection of cassettes, CDs and records, cook up a feast in our beautiful and fully equipped kitchen, or have a cosy movie night in front of the wood burning stove.
Many who have visited the cottage note a feeling of instant relaxation, as the stresses, distractions and preoccupations of modern living are almost physically shrugged off on entering the grounds. We have spent many happy days simply relaxing on the deck, watching the fire pit, building dens in the woods, saying hello to the sheep, watching the birds, and generally revelling in the unvarnished beauty of the garden and surrounding countryside. The cliché has never been more aptly used: it is a little piece of heaven.
Underexplored, unsung and often overlooked, the Scottish Borders is home to breathtaking scenery, beautiful stately homes, ruined abbeys and castles, and delightful gardens. It offers an idyllic base for history buffs, textile enthusiasts, cyclists, walkers, horticulturalists, gourmets, adventurers, explorers and escapists. There are a plethora of child-friendly attractions making it the ideal family destination.
