About this property
La Petite Forêt | 17th Century Secluded Cottage near Durbuy and Ciney
Escape to the tranquil oasis of our holiday house cottage nestled in the Belgian Ardennes and unwind completely in nature. Our secluded ancient farmhouse is only 20 min away from Durbuy and Ciney and 30 min from Namur, Liège and Rochefort and provides all modern comfort whilst maintaining the allure and warm atmosphere of the past. Experience the serene and cozy atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with your loved ones in complete seclusion. Ideal for family gatherings and bonding with friends.
If we are around, we are more than happy to show you around and inform you about the ins and outs of our cottage. If this would not be possible, we will make sure that everything is cleared out and keys are available in a lock box.
We made a leaflet ((still under construction) explaining the things you need to know about the house and also giving some tips and tricks regarding things to do, where the eat and drink and what to see in the neighbourhood
Neighbourhood | Our house is surrounded by meadows and woods and an endless amount of narrow but muddy pathways. Don’t forget your rubber boots for the numerous strolls along these trails or bring your 4x4 (winch fitted like our good old Jeep a.k.a. Willy) or Motorbike to hit one of the many country roads while visiting one of the many castles or cities in this neighbourhood.
Shopping | Albeit the countryside location, all the necessary shops are very close by (Delhaize in Havelange, Spar in Clavier, Okay in Ohey, etc.)
Private | Our cottage is yours during your stay and you can freely use the bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, garden, dining room, living room, patio. Since we sometimes go back to relax, you might find some personal stuff in a wardrobe or the fridge.
Check-in | If we are not around, We will give you all instructions shortly before your arrival.
Holiday House | We recently renovated our ancient cottage so it regained its splendour of yesteryear. We try to restore it by only using antique and/or old (re-used or up-cycled) building materials without compromising on today’s comfort. Our secluded house is on a semi private road, which makes it very calm and silent (except for chirping birds and the sound of the nearby a rippling creek ;-)).
Bedrooms | We have 3 bedrooms with double beds of 160 cm wide. 1 bedroom serves as a passage to a second bedroom.
Bathrooms (2) | Soap bubbles galore!
Are you more into taking a relaxed bath or a quick shower? There is no need to be decisive! Relax, turn-down the lights and submerge (even with two) in our copper bath tub. Quick morning showers can be enjoyed together as well, in the big walk-in shower downstairs or the bathroom upstairs adjacent to one of the bedrooms.
Living Room | Sleeping in front of the open fire (not yet available).
Kitchen | Foodies united!
The kitchen is fully equipped and fitted with a English ever-hot AGA Range Cooker offering 2 gas hobs, 2 big coup-de-feu plates and four ovens. Japanese Damascus steel kitchen knives, dish washer, combi microwave and oven and induction hobs to be used during summer times when the AGA range cookers shuts off.
BBQ | Fire up the Barbecue
Outside in the backyard next to the back door, you find our grill.
Garden | Weeds are flowers too, once you get to know them!
Find your inner peace in the garden by reading a book in the tree swing chair, having an apéro on the patio or cooking some slow cooked succulent meat on the grill.
Bear in mind that 90% of the charged rent covers the holiday home whereas 10% covers the hire of movables. No additional services are provided.
To reach our ancient cottage, there may be limited public transport options available. While public transportation might be feasible to a certain extent, it is advisable to use a car for convenience and efficiency in reaching your destination.
Bear in mind that 90% of the charged rent covers the holiday home whereas 10% covers the hire of movables. No additional services are provided like daily cleaning or breakfast.
Dogs are by default not allowed. Please contact us so we can see on a case by case basis what is possible. Because of potential allergy issue with the next guests we charge a 100 euro flat fee.
Time to sit back, relax, and find back your #inner peace.
