About this property

Hunter Chalets - The Old Macaroni

Summary:
The Old Macaroni can only be described as a masterpiece in Alpine luxury living. Immaculately restored from its traditional farmhouse origins, the chalet has been given a thoroughly luxurious renovation full of fun, individual and bespoke features.

The Space:
The Old Macaroni features hidden rooms, individually designed bathrooms and bedrooms, a super luxury cinema, massive outdoor deck, hot tub and a glass fronted barrel sauna, framing undoubtedly one of the best views in Morzine.

Taking influence from the owners favourite novels; each bedroom has been carefully designed to represent subtle elements of the book it is named after. The Harry Potter children’s bedroom is every child’s dream with four built in cabin beds which each have a double bed inside them. Each room has bespoke king size beds, an en-suite shower/bath room and a smart TV.

The entrance to the chalet has beautiful traditional features from the original farmhouse building and a large boot room allows ample practical space for guest’s outdoor clothes, skis and boots. The entrance level of the chalet has been transformed into a beautiful open dining, kitchen and entertaining space with a bedroom and a spa treatment room leading off the corridor.

As with everything in the chalet, the kitchen has been custom made with every detail taken in to consideration, including a professional teppanyaki plate. Overlooking a large dining room, the kitchen has an open plan layout that lends itself perfectly to entertaining and being looked after by our chef and hosts. As well as the dining table there is a further seating area on this level which is perfect for a relaxed cup of coffee or indeed an option for those wishing to have two dining areas, perhaps a children’s table and an adults table for example. A glass floor on the level above gives a glimpse of the living room and is strategically located so as to be able to keep an eye on the kids room upstairs!

A beautiful spa treatment room is located on this level and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing massage or beauty treatment including an internal shower and relaxing mood lighting. This room has been cleverly designed to offer further accommodation should you require it. A hidden full double bed, with proper mattress, can be lowered down creating a further bedroom for larger groups/families.

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway provides the inspiration for the first bedroom in the chalet. A sumptuous turquoise velvet bed and touches of blue give this bedroom a bright but calm atmosphere. As in each bedroom, the en-suite bathroom continues the bespoke theme. With glass, taps and a shower integrated with lighting, every detail has been thought of to provide the most luxurious accommodation.

Upstairs, the view from the lounge will take your breath away. The upper level of the chalet comprises of the main living area as well as three bedrooms. Floor to ceiling glazed bi-folding doors open one entire side of the lounge to take in the most spectacular view of Morzine, above which The Old Macaroni is perched on the hillside. The main living room and lounge overlook the church and town hall and takes in the view of the whole valley as well as the Pleney and Nyon pistes. With ample space for relaxing, the lounge also features a grand piano and a beautiful log burning stove. The bi-folding doors open up on to a balcony that wraps around the chalet and offers the perfect spot from which to watch the weekly Pleney fireworks display and torch light decent.

For those who need some space to work away from the crowd, an office is situated on this level, albeit you may not realise at first! A secret doorway leads through to a surprisingly spacious office where you can be undisturbed and work peacefully within the chalet.

The second bedroom is named after The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and indeed is befitting of its royal name. A grand, burgundy velvet bed has views out of floor to ceiling windows that open on to a balcony providing a quiet, private spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or a quiet glass of wine. After a long day skiing, nothing could be more welcome than a relaxing bath. A stand alone, roll top bath has it’s own mezzanine above the bedroom which also takes in the view of the Pleney slopes and Point de Nyon. A further shower room completes this bedroom and is as spectacular as the rest of the chalet. Double sets of wash hand basins as well as a fabulous double shower make this bathroom a design feature in itself.

The third bedroom, created with inspiration for All Men are Mortal, has a true boutique hotel feel to it. Navy velvet with bright pink and green accents and crisp white linen give this room a modern edge. It is open to a huge shower and dressing room that mean the bedroom has an open and airy feel. Sliding glass doors open on to a private balcony with stunning views across the valley.

Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak lends itself to the ornate fourth bedroom. This bedroom is beautifully lit with a soft, romantic feel to it. A beautiful, large en-suite shower room continues the design with attention to detail everywhere from the towel rails to the shower fixtures and stunning tiles. As with all of the bedrooms, there is ample storage space with cupboards and drawers and each room is very spacious – perfect for a luxury holiday.

A mezzanine level has been designed to offer an exciting children’s room but cleverly accommodates adults as well. Whilst primarily built with children in mind, the Harry Potter room has four beautiful built in cabin beds, each with their own curtains for privacy. Each of these beds, however, is a full size double bed with proper mattress meaning that they can easily accommodate adults. The mezzanine is open allowing adults to keep an eye on children as they play upstairs. There is a large floor space in the room where kids can play with toys, watch TV or indeed read any of the many books from the bookcase.

Further entertaining space can be found in the lower level of the chalet where you will find the cinema. Tiered seating and art deco lighting are reminiscent of the traditional movie halls but the bright pink and purple velvet seating give it a luxurious modern twist. The state of the art, integrated surround sound and screen evoke the real cinema feel and when the lights go down it genuinely feels like you are at the movies. Huge custom made bean bags provide extra seating and a sumptuous option from which to sit and enjoy the film.

Guest Access:
Guests will have access to the entire chalet throughout their stay.

The Neighborhood:
Winter in Morzine will capture your heart. The village has low-rise chocolate-box style chalets and is surrounded by soaring mountains with trees that look like they’ve been dusted with icing sugar. Skiing here is great for all levels; and Morzine is regularly voted one of the best ski resorts for families. Located in France, close to the Switzerland border, Morzine is just over an hour from Geneva Airport and at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area. This means you have over 400 miles and 12 linked ski resorts to explore, including snowy Avoriaz.

Off the skis, you can enjoy ice-skating, a horse-drawn sleigh ride, or sledging; and Christmas in Morzine is a special time, with parades, fireworks and the chance to walk through the snowy woods and see Santa in his grotto. During your stay, you might get to see expert skiers zipping down the mountain pistes with flaming torches at night; or watch big-named live bands in a mountain setting at the annual Rock The Pistes music festival.
