Owner Ben was a pleasure to work with. This well maintained Victorian house is minutes from downtown Salida. My family and I were thrilled to stay in this historic home. Thought the kids were going to wear out the stairs to the upper floor. Huge four leg tub upstairs was used often after days on the ski resort. What a great vacation lodge.
Was a great stay. Had everything we needed. Ben was very responsive. Pet friendly was a plus especially with the covid times we are experiencing. Will definitely stay again.
Convenient location. Well-appointed for hanging around the house a lot during a pandemic. Our dogs enjoyed hanging out in the enclosed backyard. Bigger house than we needed but nice to have the space. Great communication with owner. Thanks Ben.
The property was so fantastic! Well updated while retaining all it’s Victorian charm. Very clean, and outfitted with everything you might need. Despite it being an old house, it was incredibly cozy, stayed nice and toasty even when the temps dropped below freezing. Close to downtown, and only 20-25 min drive to Monarch. The kids loved being able to ski all day and then come “home” to play games and relax in this wonderful home. As a family of 6, I can say we put the water heater to the test after a day of skiing and everyone wanting to shower afterward, and it held up great! Loved being able to bring our two Labs along. Ben was very responsive and easy to communicate with, he responded quickly any time we contacted him. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to Salida, and recommend it to others. Thank you Ben for helping us make our trip memorable by sharing your beautiful home!
What a great property! Very clean, fun decor, and very comfortable. This home has a relaxing atmosphere with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We enjoyed it so much that there were times we intended to go out and do something but decided to 'stay in' instead! Would HIGHLY recommend this property to friends and family.
It was a great home to relax in. We felt right at home sitting in the living room and chatting or eating at the dining room table. It was super clean and wasn't lacking in anything we needed.
We really enjoyed our full week at this charming historic house. The house is spacious, clean and well stocked. The manager was always available for questions during our stay (and before our stay). The yard is lushly landscaped and fully fenced. We enjoyed dining out in the private yard. We worked from home during the week and this house offered several areas for work, relaxing or play inside and out. The house stays cool during the day and night. Many houses in town don't have air conditioning, but they don't need it if you keep the windows open. So it helps if you are in a quiet neighborhood since your windows will be open. The neighbors and neighborhood is quiet. The walk to town is about 9 blocks, which took less than a 10 min stroll. The farmer's market is lovely and we enjoyed walking around town by the river. There are many great places to eat in town. We also cooked at home and the kitchen was well stocked. The only recommendation that I have is to provide a few more chairs for more people outside. There were only two of us and 6 chairs, but if there was a larger family staying at the house, they may appreciate a few more chairs for dining. We hope to visit again soon. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
Our family had a great stay at this old historic home in downtown Salida. You will not be disappointed as long as you go with the understanding that this is a historic home built in 1904, but that is part of the charm and uniqueness of staying in this home. It really is quite close to historic downtown and all the shops and restaurants, but you may likely drive there during colder weather. The home owner was great to work with and provided clear instruction via email, text and various labels throughout the house. We easily sat our 8 family members at the dining room table for dinner and removed the three leaves from the table to make an excellent place to play family games. The kitchen is well equipped and if you you forget a favorite cooking utensil there a good chance what you need is already there. Just recommend that is you are going to do a lot of cooking and have leftovers you bring some disposable storage containers for those late night second servings. We had a great trip and if we make our way back to Salida I would certainly put this at the top of my list of places to stay. Next time perhaps a Summer visit as there are ample opportunities for Summer activities.
We had a wonderful time here for Thanksgiving! Plenty of room for all the kids, cooking and adults. Great location for getting to the parade and seeing the big tree light up!
This property fit our crew of 8 adults perfectly. The proximity to downtown and the river made it very convenient to walk or drive. The nice weather made the backyard and covered patio a great place to gather, we were having so much fun we didn't realize the time and probably stayed up too late, hope we didn't keep the neighbors up. Ben was a great host and the property was equipped with everything we needed. We'll be looking for this one on our next stay in Salida.
Wonderful accommodations for a fantastic wedding on the ranch in Salida!
The house was spacious enough for our family of eight, comfortable and well appointed. It was nicely decorated in a fun, but tasteful and colorful way. Ben was extremely accommodating and helpful, even leaving out several lawn chairs for family guests before the wedding. It was the perfect place to call home during our three day wedding celebration. If we ever return to Salida, we will call on Ben to become host again.
This was a great rental for a group. Plenty of bedding and supplies. Being from Texas we didn’t think we could survive with out air conditioning but when it got a little warm we opened the windows and it cooled off nicely.
We set our lawn chairs if the front yard to watch the firework. Very nice display.
A few folding chairs in the closet would be handy for meal times. Thanks for a fun weekend, Great rental!!
The house was quirky but great. VERY well stocked and all the supplies you need. Super nice owner, very responsive. The location is good, maybe 4-5 blocks further than we would want from downtown/the river but we managed and I think the pricing accounts for that. The layout is interesting, but the house is roomy and was comfortable for our group of 5 adults and 4 kids. The kids loved playing in the front yard, the next door neighbors even gave the kids sidewalk chalk and toys to play with! So sweet and characteristic of this upbeat and laid-back town.
The only things I would change is that there is no BBQ available and the back lawn was not cut so the kids couldn’t really play back there.
The listing is a little slim in the details, but in a good way, they actually do have a dryer, baby crib, high chair, etc. which were pleasant surprises!
Thanks for sharing your place Ben!

A perfect place for a multi-family get away.
6 adults, 1 19year old(he's still my baby), and two 8 year olds give this place the highest rating. Plenty of room, kitchen stocked, quiet locations, wonderful host...all the things! Ben was delightful to communicate with. We loved the space. There was interesting art, historic details, comfy furniture, nice linens and towels, close to town without being in the middle of it all. The house was very clean when we arrvived.

Fun, comfy, magical Christmas!
Awesome home base for Christmas fun. Our family of 4 had the best time here, we could have easily accommodated another family. The house has this cool relaxed vibe, its comfy and very close to a ton of cool places. The house has 4 queen beds and plenty of storage, blankets and essentials. The house was well stocked with supplies and I loved their throw blankets. If you are a beer connoisseur, Roxy's is right down the street and they have a ton of craft beer. Nearby is also a brew pub as well as some yummy pizza at another local fave. Monarch Mountain was an easy 20 min drive as is a snow mobile rental spot. The town is friendly and a great spot to enjoy the outdoors and everything Salida offers. Ben is a great host, responds quickly and is really friendly. We enjoyed the home and the town of Salida.

Wonderful home and location
We had two kids and 4 adults plus 2 big dogs. The house is plenty big enough for a large group gathering and the kitchen was well stocked for thanksgiving dinner prep. The kids had a great time running around the house, and the dogs were very happy with the yard. Overall, we loved staying here and would love to come back again sometime!

A Serene Week
We had a peaceful stay at the house. Everything worked just fine. It was clean and spacious. Sleep was good — both at night with the windows part-open, and afternoon naps with showers rumbling in the valley.

This was a great home. Very clean and well stocked.
We had a great time! 5 adults and 2 kids 6 yrs. old and 2 3 years old and we had plenty of space. Downtown was within walking distance but parking was easy. A nice backyard with a covered porch. We wouldn’t have changed a thing!
