About this property
Ancient Hamlet finely renovated, hidden in the hills of Brisighella
I was looking for a Plan B after many years spent behind a desk in Milan and when I stumbled on Baccagnano, an abandoned church and house in the first hills of Brisighella, I almost immediately thought that this was the perfect place, no matter what. It took us a few years to finally buy it and starting the renovation, and while we were at it we had the chance to explore and know better this part of Romagna. Brisighella is the perfect spot to start an off the beaten track exploration of Italy. Food and wine are amazing, the hills and the mountains to the south offer great hiking and biking paths, there is very scenic railway that goes from Faenza to Firenze in one hour and a half, it is close to Bologna and its airport and a mere 50 minutes to the Adriatic Sea. In Baccagnano I had the chance to plant my vineyard, now 13 years old, just around the property and build the winery where we produce our wines. Brisighella has a long tradition of good restaurants up to a point where there were 2 restaurant with Michelin stars just downtown. Now you can have a great fine dining experience at La Cavallina or enjoy the simple but delicious food at the Osteria del Guercinoro. Fifteen minutes away you will find Faenza and its many contemporary ceramics boutiques. We love Elvira Keller and Monica Grycko. Since you are in Faenza why not enjoy a pizza at one of the Top50 Pizzeria in Italy? O Fiore Mio is the place to go. If you are into wines you will find a great selection of them and good food at la Baita. Looking for something stellar? San Domenico in Imola holds a 2 stars Michelin. Ravenna and her mosaics are less than an hour drive, dont forget to visit the Mausoleo di Galla Placidia and San Vitale, and while you are at it have dinner at Osteria del Tempo Perso. The sea side is around the corner, when we venture there we always end up at Maré, in Cesenatico.
