Inside
Step into Fox Hill House, where classic Edwardian design blends effortlessly with contemporary elegance. The grand entrance hall, with views over rolling Devon hills, sets the tone for a luxurious stay. A pink-painted cloakroom and boot room with laundry facilities, wine fridges and drying space ensures practicality after Dartmoor adventures or beach days.
Upstairs, the tranquil sitting room features a squishy L-shaped sofa and with French doors opening to a balcony with epic Dartmoor views. Four serene bedrooms, all in soothing neutral tones, lead off this space. The master suite boasts a king-size bed, juliet balcony and en-suite with a freestanding bath. Bedrooms two, three and four offer equally luxurious touches, including an en-suite with a freestanding egg bath and a whimsical children’s room. There’s a separate shower room for bedrooms three and four.
A welcoming Devon retreat, Fox Hill House is perfect for family holidays or intimate celebrations.
Outside
Beyond the gated entrance, Fox Hill House reveals its enchanting exterior – a space as captivating as the home itself. To one side, the enclosed lush lawn gives way to an inviting terrace, where outdoor seating beckons for sun-soaked afternoons and a childrens swing sways lazily in the breeze.
The garden unfolds in layers, from sloping banks that cascade toward a a childrens climbing frame with slide to steps leading to a more formal space. Here, a sumptuous daybed, paired with plush sofas and chairs, invites leisurely moments of repose beneath the open sky. In contrast, the lower garden is left to nature’s artistry, a wild haven for bees to hum among hedge plantings and children to delight in a slide tucked into the greenery.
For those with a taste for the pastoral, a greenhouse brimming with grapevines and apples whispers of rustic charm, though not for guest use, allowing the magic of this corner of the garden to remain untouched.
All of this, framed by the stunning backdrop of Haytor and meandering pathways, offers peaceful nooks and additional seating areas, perfect for stealing quiet moments amid nature’s splendour.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Nestled below the majestic Haytor, Fox Hill House offers a gateway to the rugged beauty of Dartmoor National Park. Bovey Tracey, proud to be recognised by many as the gateway to Dartmoor, is a beautiful and welcoming market town where the winding streets and picturesque parks provide the perfect environment for relaxation. The town is home to many restaurants, bars, coffee shops and attractions, each designed to assist those who wish to take time out and unwind.
The town's creative side, both historic and contemporary, can be seen in numerous shops and attractions across the town, including the House of Marbles and the internationally-renowned Devon Guild of Craftsmen, based in the 19th century water mill on the river, while the annual Contemporary Craft Festival is an event not to be missed.
Bovey Tracey gets its name from the river that flows through the westerly edge of the town and the de Tracey family who ruled over the area following the Norman Conquest. Its rich past can be revealed through stories and antiquities at the local Heritage Centre and with more than 100 listed buildings and architectural features to be found in the town.
There are pubs and inns that serve excellent food, such as the Welcome Stranger in Liverton, Halfway House in Bickington or, for that special celebration, Bovey Castle is only a few minutes drive. Ullacombe Farm is only one mile down the road which does excellent breakfasts or Brookside in Bovey. Also recommended are The Dolphin and Cromwell Arms as places serving good food and drink in the town.
The Dartmoor Whisky Distillery is located on an island in the Heart of Bovey Tracey in the historic 150-year-old Town Hall. In the Old Police Station you will find a visitors arrival centre, and souvenir shop, whilst in the main hall you will see the 'Still' operating, and a visitors centre attraction, and café.
Dartmoor’s dramatic landscapes are right on your doorstep, inviting exploration with its extensive moorland walks, rock climbing, and cycling opportunities. The surrounding area is a treasure trove for adventurers and nature lovers alike. For a serene escape, Decoy Country Park, with its tranquil lake, is a short drive away, offering leisurely walks and wildlife spotting.
