The New Forest, where ponies, cattle, donkeys, pigs and deer roam free is dotted with unique villages and a world away from your everyday life...

There are a wealth of things to do and places to explore in the New Forest. From 140 miles of tracks and trails, to the award-winning gardens at Exbury, the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, leisure and wildlife parks including the famous Peppa Pig World at Paulton’s Park, plus much, more.

Lyndhurst high street is just a short walk from the cottage and is full of coffee shops selling delicious treats, a wide variety of pubs and restaurants as well as lots of independent gift shops to explore. If you want to see the forest from on high, you can board the hop on, hop off double decker bus here too.

Visit Lymington's artisan market on a Saturday or wander down the cobbled streets and on to the harbour and marina.

The New Forest also has a stunning coast line. Keyhaven is known for it's bird wildlife, kite surfers and the split leading to Hurst Castle. The coastal path from here leads on to Milford on Sea with it's promenade and stunning views of the Isle of White.

If you are looking for sandy beaches head to Friars Cliff and Mudeford

Each season provides a change of scene from the rich deep colours of spring and summer to the seasons of mists and mellow fruitfulness in autumn.

The stunning New forest has something for everyone

We chose Rhubarb cottage for our New Forest stay because we wanted a property that would accept dogs and was in easy walking distance of the new forest trails. The cottage did not disappoint. It was clean and well presented. There was no dog smell that you can get in places that accept dogs which was great and it helped our one settle much quicker than he has in other accommodation in the past. The cottage had everything you needed for cooking, cleaning, loo roll, hand soap, even towels in the bathroom and a super king bed in the master bedroom. The welcome gift on arrival was much appreciated and something we (including the dog) loved. Coming home, after a day of walking, into the cottage was exactly what was ordered. Warming up by the fire with a cup of hot chocolate (it was January) was perfect. In the local area, there are lots of amenities in the town with various restaurants and tea shops and the cottage is just a 5min walk to it all. Hubby particularly enjoyed the fish and chips off the high street. Our hosts also left us a pass which allowed us to park in some of the car parks around the different towns in the new forest for free - which was really handy. For new forest walks there are loads both within a walkable distance of the cottage or a short drive (under 10 minutes). All in all, we got everything we wanted from our short break. The cottage and it’s location was a huge part of that. Thank you for having us. We will definitely be returning in the future.
