About this property
Traditional Charentaise cottage with pool, in the heart of Cognac country
Fleur is our +200 year old stone walled gite, which has been fully renovated and double glazed, comprising an open plan living/dining/kitchen downstairs. The sitting area has a large window, fireplace, leather sofa and 2 armchairs, a Samsung flat screen smart TV capable of receiving Netflix and Prime, or you can connect to your own accounts or use your own Fire-stick to connect to the hi-speed fibre Wifi. The kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, a gas piano cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine, along with all crockery and cutlery for your stay.
The stairs lead up to the 1st floor where there are 2 en-suite bedrooms. The master is a double aspect bedroom with views of the courtyard and garden, it has a double bed and full shower room. The 2nd bedroom has 2 single beds and a full bathroom incorporating a full bath and shower over. All linens are provided, and a change of linens is offered on the middle weekend for 2 week stays. We can also provide a cot, with all linens, so if you require a cot please let us know when booking. More frequent changes of linens can be accommodated as can a mid week clean, both have to be arranged in advance and carry an additional charge payable locally.
Outside there is the entrance courtyard and main garden, there is seating in front of the gite and a terrace for alfresco dining, and a BBQ. The pool is in a separate walled and fenced garden. The heated 9x4m sloping pool has steps and a 'plage so young children and infants can cool off safely. The pool is cleaned daily, and for safety and insurance purposes the pool is covered between 19:00 and 08:30. The pool is not attended, so strictly no children without an accompanying adult, and please do not take glassware or crockery to the pool. Loungers, umbrellas, and inflatable toys are provided, as well as pool towels. We request that no sunscreens with fake tan or bronzers are used as these damage the pool liner, and guest are required use the shower before entering the pool.
Please note: At the moment there are no facilities at the gite for EV/Hybrid charging. The power supply is not yet rated for this, and will trip the mains, therefore EV charging is prohibited. At present the closest high speed charging points are in Néré or Beauvais sur Matha, some away 6-7 km's away.
Our tranquil village, is the perfect place to relax, unwind, and take things easy, To allow our guests to do this we try to ensure that they have a home from home for their well deserved holiday, rather than just a holiday home, but we are human, so if we do miss something please let us know.

About the host
Hosted by Graham Logan

We are from England and Scotland (so we don't talk about football) and have been the owners & operators of Chez Gabrielle since 2006. We live on site with our black lab Mr Paco, so are available and happy to give guests local knowledge of our peaceful corner of France, also to react swiftly if there are any issues.
Why they chose this property
We wanted to slow down, relax, and enjoy life, and the Charente Maritime provides us with just that. Long hot summers, balmy autumns, mild winters, means we live on the terrace enjoying the sunsets most evenings from march/april to October
What makes this property unique
If you want nightlife and buzz, we are not for you. If you want to unwind, walk or cycle on the tracks though the grapevines or sunflower fields, or chill by the pool, then enjoy a relaxed meal and a nice glass of something chilled, whilst listening to the crickets, surrounded by the scent of Jasmin, leaving the hustle and bustle behind for your well earned break.... come on down.
