About this property
Roundhouse Mill - St Issey
A lively stay and some unforgettable memories are set to be made in this fantastic 10-person holiday home on North Cornwall’s coastline, made for families, friends – any group at all. Well-positioned for outdoor exploits in this beautiful part of the world, the cottage is just off the banks of the Camel Estuary, close to the coastal escape of Padstow (3 miles) and the neighbouring town of Rock (4 miles), just across the water. Rugged beaches, clifftop walking routes and National Trust beauty spots are all within close reach, as are sea safari expeditions, water-skiing and boat trips from Padstow Harbour (3 miles). For those who prefer to stay on dry land, try your hand at crabbing in the harbour grab some fish and chips and sit by the water’s edge. For cyclists, the Camel Trail, leads from the town and along the river, passing the property just at the bottom of the lane (0.5 miles). Jump on your bike to join this famed long-distance route, following it all the way through Cornwall’s awe-inspiring countryside. If you don’t fancy spending that long on your bike, a gentle cycle up to Padstow could be on the cards instead.
Curved walls with floor-to-ceiling windows, a glass-fronted balcony and outstanding interior décor add to the overall quality of this impeccable place. This stone barn conversion offers a reverse-level layout with four bedrooms ready to greet you on the ground floor, each in calming tones with comfortable furnishings. The bedrooms are made up of a super-king-size, zip-and-link bed and its own en-suite, a king-size bedroom with en-suite and Smart TV, and two twin bedrooms. Completing this floor, a family bathroom with a deep, inviting bath and a functional utility room for doing laundry. Upstairs, find the fifth bedroom. Another super-king-size, this room also has a zip-and-link bed, an en-suite, and a Smart TV. On the upper floor, get settled into the marvellous living space with incredible estuary views. The open-plan kitchen/diner will buzz with activity at mealtimes, allowing you to catch up over your favourite tipple with the central island creating somewhere to sit and keep the cook company. More relaxed mealtimes, or a chance to sit quietly with a good book, can be found in the orangery. This sun-room features a huge skylight and bi-fold doors out onto the balcony, creating impressive views and a seating space that’s flooded with natural light. Back into the kitchen and down a few stairs, reach the living room. This space is kept cosy thanks to a wood burner in the corner, cushy seating, and a Smart TV. You’ll also find a telescope, ideal for those who want to stay up late to admire the twinkling stars over the estuary.
As if the interior wasn’t impressive enough, the property’s garden has been laid out to provide endless space to unwind outdoors during sunny evenings or cool, crisp nights. The garden effortlessly blends into the Cornish countryside, framed by the Camel estuary in the background, altogether creating an incredible backdrop for al fresco relaxation moments. A glass balcony with sun loungers sits up above, and stairs lead down to the lower terrace with a large outdoor dining table, a fire pit and a charcoal BBQ. A hammock, a heated outdoor shower and a hot tub complete the outside features, running into the open field with so much space for younger guests to play and a hidden, informal seating area for sitting and sipping a sundowner. There is also a small, enclosed garden accessed from the upper floor and private parking available for two cars, with additional spaces in the visitors’ parking area (subject to availability).
