Langton Cottage in The Deep South
We were blessed with lovely daytime weather and, which definitely enhanced our stay on the island and at the cottage. There are great views and accessibility to the piers and for boat watching/launching, especially from the landing window, the kitchen and the dining room windows.
On returning to Langton House each evening we did, however, feel the cold in the house. The pre-set central heating controls would need an adjustment at this time of year, we felt. We had a 5-month-old baby and a toddler to consider.
We thought (briefly) about the suggestion of lighting the traditional coal fire in the front room (as indicated on an information card) but, thought it would be demanding of our time and energy and with the routine needed with two little humans, it was not practical.
The house was well equipped for a family. It is good to find a pet-friendly cottage to let, too, especially at a busy Easter period!
We needed a rota for the four adults to use the shower in the contemporary bathroom. The kitchen had everything for our needs. All beds were comfortable and we generally slept well.
The welcome pack of Manx produce is a great idea and tides you over until you ‘hit the smoke’ in Port Erin’s Tesco store or shop local in the Coop in PSM.
Many interesting traditional features still exist in this cottage and Kevin, the owner, has provided a wealth of information leaflets, books, games and some toys for young children.
It is certainly a characterful cottage and it must have an interesting history-it’s description certainly whets the appetite to find out more! If only we had time!
Lots to do on the island and all the more reason to go back for more.
