About this property
The Castle - Thornham
Enjoying an idyllic location in the peaceful village of Thornham, this fantastic retreat offers relaxing accommodation for families and friends to explore this stunning stretch of the North Norfolk coast. An ideal base for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers, the stylishly decorated cottage lies on the outskirts of the village, just half a mile from the RSPB’s tranquil site at Titchwell Marsh. Heading west along the coast, the picturesque village of Holme-next-the-Sea (2 miles) has a beautiful, unspoilt beach, before you arrive at the traditional seaside town of Hunstanton (5 miles), with its promenade, amusement arcades, shops and Esplanade Gardens. To the east, Brancaster is home to the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club (3 miles), or you can head inland to Burnham Market (7 miles) with its range of independent boutiques. Local attractions include Holkham Hall, the Sandringham Estate, Creake Abbey and Houghton Hall, all within 15 miles.
Entering this inviting property through its eye-catching turreted porch, the welcoming hallway is the best spot to kick off sandy shoes before stepping left into the delightful lounge. Settle into the sumptuous sofas here, flicking on the Smart TV for some evening entertainment. If there’s a chill in the air, fire up the wood burner and enjoy basking in its glow. Accessed from the lounge and corridor, a well-appointed, L-shaped kitchen/diner offers a fantastic space to cook up holiday feasts and gather for social mealtimes as you plan the next day’s adventure. Featuring a chic central island, the kitchen offers all the space and amenities needed for a self-catering stay, while an inviting seating space here means the chef is never left alone. The lovely dining area sits beside the bi-fold doors to the garden, making for a lovely, airy spot to enjoy the chef’s work. The ground floor also has a handy utility room and separate WC. At the end of each day, follow the stairs to the first floor where three inviting bedrooms await, all organised around a well-equipped family bathroom with a separate shower. Soaked in natural light and some boasting views of the surrounding Norfolk scenery, the bedrooms comprise two king-size rooms, one of which can be converted into twins on request, and a cosy double. The master bedroom impresses with its peaceful views of the marshes and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and walk-in shower.
From the dining area, bi-fold doors lead out into the large, fully enclosed south-facing courtyard garden, which occupies two levels. The patio has plenty of garden furniture and provides an ideal space for sitting back with a morning coffee. A couple of steps lead to the upper level, with a small lawn and a charming, paved area with more furniture, perfect for dining alfresco on a summer’s afternoon. Private parking is available for up to five cars.
