The property is nestled on the site of the former Clifton on Trent train station, on the eastern border of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire and only 12 miles from both Newark and Lincoln. The Weighbridge is a rural charming one-bedroom holiday home, perfect for a peaceful getaway and a must stay for any train enthusiast, walker or cyclist. This delightful property features a cosy double bedroom, a shower room and an inviting open-plan space that combines the kitchenette, dining, and living area. The focal point of the living space is a warming log burner, providing a snug atmosphere to unwind in after a day of exploring the area, Step outside into your private enclosed patio garden, complete with a charming picket fence and garden furniture. From here, you can enjoy stunning views over the surrounding fields, where you’ll see the friendly alpacas grazing.
The property offers direct access to the scenic Skellingthorpe Walk, Sustrans National Route 647 and the former train line between Chesterfield and Lincoln. It is a perfect base for cycling or walking enthusiasts. the owners have provided a bike rack to secure two bikes. You can walk or cycle 12 miles to Lincoln almost road free, where you can explore its historic centre, famous for Lincoln Castle, Lincoln Cathedral and the iconic Steep Hill. The city also boasts excellent shopping, dining, and nightlife. With a choice of various museums and art galleries in the area including the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and the International Bomber Command Centre. Alternatively, you can head the opposite direction, cycling across the impressive Fledborough Viaduct, following the River Trent towards Tuxford and as far reaching as the expansive grounds of Clumber Park NT, offering both tranquil lakeside walks and scenic cycling routes.
Other places of interest in the area are the stunning Doddington Hall and Gardens, just 5 miles away and can also be accessed from the Skellingthorpe Walk via bike or walking. Doddington Hall offers an Elizabethan experience, with two restaurants (which serve a fantastic steak sandwich!), boutique shopping, GIANT cycle shop and beautiful countryside walks.
