About this property
Stunning, modern villa, with pool, 15 minutes walk from Céret centre
Completed in 2012 this five family bed villa was designed and built by an award winning architect for his own family.
The house is located on the edge of Ceret and commands views across the Vallespir to the north and Le Canigou to the west. Located in a quiet area it is a fifteen minute walk to the shops, bars and pavement cafes of Ceret. Immediately above the private rear garden to the south you are in the countryside. Find the path, “le balcon de Ceret”, it winds its way through the edge of the forest: west to the waterfalls (ten minutes) and east to the village of Maureillas (about one hour). The forest continues beyond the frontier to Spain: nothing in between.
The living area of the house is open plan: large Kitchen, breakfast island unit, dining and living area, the latter opening onto the terrace located adjacent the swimming pool. The kitchen is well equipped.
The main living area, where in the Summer months the fig tree shades the huge glazed wall which extends the length of the whole space and rises literally from the top of the pool, you will enjoy the calm atmosphere created by the dappled light reflected on the ceiling from the pool where the water laps almost up to the glass along the whole length of the room and beyond. You may compare this atmosphere to that in Ceret where the canopies of the huge plane trees filter the sunlight leaving an unforgettable atmosphere of calm and tranquillity, an oasis offering shelter from the burning dry heat of summer.
Above the open plan living area are located two bedrooms with between, a Jack and Jill type shared shower room. Downstairs, on almost the same level as the living spaces is a large bedroom, almost two storeys high, with a dressing area leading to an en suite bathroom. Below are located two more double bedrooms that share a shower room. These two are cool in summer. With five double bedrooms ten guests can easily be accommodated.
The pool, located to the south of the villa, extends the length of the house, providing excellent surveillance of the children from within, and privacy from the road. Measuring 12m by 3m and just 1m deep, it was designed for exercise but it has also proved perfect for volley ball and other such pool games. A terrace is located to both ends, the one to the west, accessed direct of the living area, is for dining.
