It's a very quiet area, Plaka, within walking distance of cozy tavernas and local markets.
The village has lush vegetation and largely preserves the beautiful natural surroundings as it is located on the slope of Mount Drapanokefala where the vegetation is intense and varied. You can see even olives trees, undergrowth of shrubs and organically grown plants, which have not altered the character of the area. The village still retains its traditional character greatly.

Nearby villages like Almyrida and Armeni each have their own charm. Almyrida is known for its sandy beaches and seaside taverns, ideal for relaxation. Armeni, with its historical sites and traditional architecture, offers a taste of Crete's past.
Kalyves is a charming seaside village on Crete’s northern coast, known for its whitewashed buildings and turquoise waters. The narrow streets, lined with bougainvillea, lead to cafes and taverns by the beach, perfect for enjoying local cuisine.

Just a short drive away, Chania is a lively city with a picturesque harbor and vibrant Old Town. Explore its narrow streets, visit the famous Lighthouse, and enjoy delicious Cretan food. The mix of coastal beauty, history, and city charm makes this area a perfect destination.
