About this property
Shore Cottage - a holiday cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 3 bedrooms
Shore Cottage is a cosy Manx cottage, containing traditional features such as exposed wooden beams throughout.
Sleeping six people across three bedrooms, this self-catering holiday cottage is perfect for a family holiday to the Isle of Man. Whether it's a summer visit to enjoy all that goes on the Isle of Man or a cosy winter break or staycation, Shore Cottage is a welcoming and comfortable retreat at any time of the year.
Laxey, a historic small village on the east coast of the island born out of mining, is an excellent base for enjoying the beauty and all that goes on in the Isle of Man or for just relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere in this peaceful part of the island. Venture up to the world-renowned Laxey Wheel, built in 1854 to pump water from the mines. Today, it is the largest working water wheel in the world. Climb atop it for fabulous views down the Laxey Valley to the sea.
Another Victorian influence in Laxey is the Manx Electric Railway! Hop aboard from Laxey Station to head south as far as Douglas or north as far as Ramsey! For the more intrepid, perhaps jump aboard the Snaefell Mountain Railway, which hauls a coach load of passengers to the Isle of Man's tallest peak, Snaefell! A day out on the Manx Electric Railway transports you back in time and serves as a wonderful way to take in the Manx scenery, stretching from shore to peak.
Explore the village's many fine eateries and public houses, with many options ranging from a wholesome Sunday lunch or a very tasty Italian! The two cafes on Laxey promenade are a must try, no matter the season!
Shore Cottage is an old cottage, and comes with character! With this in mind, guests must watch their head when navigating the property! Entrance to the property on street level, where you will find the living room and one double bedroom. Venture downstairs into the basement, where you will find the kitchen and dining area. There is outdoor access here to the external yard, where you can find washing facilities and a quirky outdoor WC! Back inside, walk up to the ground floor, then onto the first floor, where you will find the second double room and a twin room, along with the family bathroom.
