The pretty Lakeland village of Bassenthwaite is located at the foot of Skiddaw, 5 miles north of Keswick, and within a short distance of Bassenthwaite Lake. Its location offers visitors the best of both worlds, with its rural feel Bassenthwaite has 2 farms in the centre of the village, a stream, village green, church and village pub yet a short drive takes you to the bustling market town of Keswick with shops, bars and restaurants. The village inn is the hub of the community and welcomes locals and visitors alike and serves delicious home cooked food or Armathwaite Hall is a few minutes drive for fine dining and afternoon teas. There is plenty to do and see within the vicinity with the Lake District Wildlife Park and the Lakes Distillery both 2 miles away, Dodd Wood with paths for all abilities and stunning scenery or head to Mirehouse and explore the house and gardens. Walks can be taken from the door over Skiddaw and the Caldbeck fells or around Bassenthwaite Lake.
Bassenthwaite Cottage retains many original features and provides a home away from home in the centre of the village. The cottage is equipped to ensure all guests, young and old alike, are catered for no matter what the season, with a selection of books and games, the perfect entertainment for chilly evenings in front of the wood burning stove and a large sunny garden for relaxing in on the days you'r not exploring the lakes or to dine al fresco.
The cottage has oil central heating and comprises: Lounge with soft leather sofas positioned around the wood burning stove, TV, selection of books and games and views to Skiddaw and the village green. Dining/kitchen with electric oven, induction hob, fridge, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine and dining table. Utility room with freezer and washing machine.
The first floor master double bedroom with feature fireplace and views to Skiddaw and the village green. Double and twin bedrooms both with a view over the village green. Bathroom with hand basin and WC. Shower room with hand basin and WC.
All oil, electric, logs, bed linen and towels included. Cot and highchair available. Reserved parking for 1 cars with additional street parking available. Secure bike store. Garden with patio and garden furniture.
