About this property
Idyllic country house, organic swim pond, hot tub
Relax with the whole family at this peaceful country house. Hole Mill is a newly renovated 350 year old former water mill with a modern extension. The house is located in a secluded valley and set in 2 acres of private land. The garden boasts a beautiful swimming pond, wood fired hot tub as well as a small stream and is surrounded by beautiful walks to the beach and beyond.
The property can sleep more than 12 if needed if willing to share more space. Message if this is of interest.
The space
The property is available on Airbnb for the first time after a 4 year renovation.
The grounds have a beautiful organic swimming pond, that is 3m deep with a jetty for diving and jumping off.
New from February 2025 the garden has a wood fired hot tub.
The house is made from flint stone, lime pointed with original wood beams.
The lounge has a fireplace and comfortably seats all guests.
In the modern extension there is a large TV and table tennis.
The master suite occupies the entire upstairs of one side of the house, and boasts stone walls, open plan en-suite with floor standing oval bath.
Douglas fir wood boards have been used throughout the house.
The top floor has vaulted ceilings with VELUX windows.
All bedrooms are spacious with high quality beds.
The main bathroom has a large drench shower.
There is a large yet cosy lounge with a corner sofa, and fireplace.
The high spec kitchen is newly fitted for 2024.
There is also a large utility which can be used as a second kitchen.
The link between the old building and the new extension has an impressive dining area under a glass roof.
EV electric car charger on site.
Guest access
Guests can access all areas excluding one small storage room in the middle of the house next to the kitchen
Other things to note
Swimming pond
The property has a deep organic swimming pond.
The water is 50cm deep on the perimeter, 3m deep in the swim section. Take care where you enter. The steps can be very slippery.
The water is deep in the centre and cold, bookings with young children who cannot swim should take precautions. We urge extreme caution around the pond.
Please do not throw anything into the pond or swim with suncream as the pond is a naturally filtered haven for wildlife.
Kids - please tell them not to wee in the water!!
If you have a dog with you please keep them out the pond as it’s a delicate environment.
When jumping off the jetty always jump to the middle of the pond where it is clearly very deep.
**New for February 2025 - wood fired hot tub**
There is a £100 surcharge for using the hot tub. For the wood supply, filling and cleaning.
Water supply
The house is remote and has no mains water supply. Water from a spring is stored in the field in an 800l tank. It’s possible that overuse can drain the tank so we recommend having quite quick showers. Also it’s good to space out your usage.
If water does stop don’t panic, wait an hr and it will replenish.
Heating
The heating system uses a heat pump with the stream as its heat exchange source. There is a channel with two large energy “radiators” . The system is designed to be renewable and so the house heats gently and stays at a constant temperature. It is designed to be 18C to 20C. In the winter you can use the wood burner in the living room to have a very warm and cosy room as needed.
