About this property
Fabulous canal side home walking distance to Bath
Summary:
Unwind in this beautiful canal-side home. With 3 reception rooms and a large eat-in kitchen there is plenty of space to be together. Open up your front door and step out onto Bath's historic canal path, watching swans, ducks and dragonflies pass by on a canal that has been in existence since 1794. A large very beautiful private garden is the perfect backdrop for a bbq or alfresco croissant and coffee. A 25 min walk along the canal path will take you into the Unesco Heritage City of Bath.
The Space:
You will enter the house through the garden conservatory doors and walk straight into the large kitchen dining room. On this floor there is also a king bedroom and a bathroom with shower and utility with washing machine ad dryer.
Go up to to the next floor and you will find a drawing room, a second smaller sitting room and a twin (or double) bedroom and the front door that opens up onto the pretty front garden and the canal. This floor also offers a very pretty conservatory opening on to a terraced area by right by the canal - A perfect spot for that early morning coffee! Go up to the top floor and you will find the master bedroom, with a king size bed, another twin (or King) bedroom, a single bedroom and a bathroom with bath and shower.
This property does offer a great deal of flexibility in regard to the bed formation:
1. Garden level: King bed
2. Ground floor: Twin or King bed
3. First floor: Twin or King bed, King bed and single bed
The views from this cottage are very very unique and the proximity to the tranquil waters gives a feeling of being part of the abundant wildlife that flocks to canal. Some of the bedrooms overlook the pub garden.
The garden is a peaceful haven. It is very well-maintained, with well stocked flower beds, lawn and a beautiful terrace for enjoying pre-dinner drinks.
Guest Access:
Guests will have access to all parts of the house.
The Neighborhood:
Bathampton is a very pretty village on the beautiful Kennet & Avon Canal - one of the prettiest canals in the UK. Across the road sits St Nicholas Church, while the canal itself ebbs gently past the house. And just a few doors down is the ivy-clad Grade II listed George pub, perfect for a pint while you watch the world go by.
Only a 25 min walk is the stunning World Heritage City of Bath, with its beautiful architecture, bustling shopping centre elegant city streets. It’s a vibrant city centre with great shopping, restaurants, bars and cafes is not to be missed. Visit the Roman Baths, the Fashion Museum, The Holburne Museum or the Jane Austen Centre, followed by a dip in in the only hot springs in the UK at Bath Thermae Spa - the roof top pool is our favourite - A trip to Bath is not complete without this special treat.
While in the area we would recommend visiting the historic market town of Bradford on Avon (accessed via the canal too), local Bath villages and hamlets such as the beautiful Freshford and Iford Manor (home to the famous Italian Peto Gardens).
Please do get in touch if you need any further suggestions on what to do in the area.
Getting Around:
Guests have use of The George pub car park for the duration of their stay. Bath city centre is a 5 minute drive or a very pretty 25 mins walk along the canal.
This is the heart of cycling (cycles can be hired) and woof-walking country too.
Other Things to Note:
Dogs are welcome at an additional charge of £35 per dog. We ask that dog mess is removed from the garden and dogs are kept downstairs and off the furniture.
NO HENS AND NO STAGS
Please be respectful of the neighbours - and the fact that noise travels across the water! Thank you!
