About this property

Timber Hideaway | Pet-Friendly Timber Frame Home with Hot Tub & Views!

Tucked within the woodlands on Gateway Mountain's private 3,000-acre nature preserve, this gorgeous and completely custom Timber Frame home seamlessly integrates country charm with modern convenience in its decor and amenities. After walking along the bridge entrance into the home, you'll be greeted by the high vaulted ceilings, spacious open floor plan, and unobstructed view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Gather around the stone, floor-to-ceiling wood-burning fireplace to watch your favorite movies on the smart TV complete with a sleek soundbar that delivers high-quality surround sound to enhance your screening experience. Listen to music on the iHome charging deck while crafting a delicious meal for your family and friends in the fully-stocked kitchen that boasts a variety of streamlined utensils including a smooth surface stove, immersion blender, instapot, and coffee makers (Keurig and Standard Drip), just to name a few.

During the warmer months, take advantage of the sunshine and gas grill to create some savory seasonal favorites that you can enjoy on the covered back deck with the refreshing mountain breeze and breathtaking views. After dinner, unwind and relax in the 6-person hot tub with a glass of wine or stargaze (with s'mores) around the newly-added outdoor fire pit. Each morning watch the sun rise over the mountains while sipping your coffee before exploring the community waterfall and creek, hiking with your dog, using the guest mountain bikes and helmets to traverse nearby rugged trails, playing a round of ping pong or pool in the garage, or trying your hand at cornhole. Just 30 minutes from the shops, restaurants, and activities in Black Mountain and 45 minutes from downtown Asheville, this delightful, secluded paradise has something for everyone and is the perfect place for a relaxing couples' weekend getaway, an annual family vacation, or a get-together with your closest friends.

House layout: Main floor: Kitchen (island seats 2); Dining table seats 6; Living room with wood-burning fireplace, Apple TV & Direct TV (soundbar for surround sound), and a queen sleeper sofa; Master bedroom with a king bed (new Beautyrest Hybrid Mattress added Fall 2019), a wireless printer, and a full bath with newly-installed bidet and walk-in shower Lower Level: Bedroom with a queen bed. A full hall bath; Laundry nook with washer and dryer; Garage with ping pong table, pool table, 2 mountain bikes with helmets for guests to use, and corn hole boards. Please note that the garage is not usable for your car. Outdoors: Large covered deck on the main level with a hot tub, gas grill, and dining tables that seat up to 8. A fire pit with seating for 4 was added in June 2019. A fenced-in backyard was added in 2020 so your pups can run freely without a leash.

Please Note: THERE IS ONGOING CONSTRUCTION NEAR THE PROPERTY.

Up to two dogs of any size are welcome at Timber Hideaway during your stay for an additional fee. Due to the owner's allergies, regretfully no cats are allowed. There is a "whole house" generator that prevents you from experiencing any power outages. Firewood is provided. Please be aware that the last mile of the road to the house is gravel and steep in some areas. During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development.

From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also recommend travel insurance for those staying in the Gateway Mountain development during the winter months. No parking is allowed on roadways or at gate entrances. No RVs, boat trailers, camping trailers, or trailers of any kind are permitted in the Gateway Mountain Community.

The house was VERY clean and WONDERFULLY stocked. Lots of spices and staples which was greatly appreciated since it is quite remote. Views are beautiful from the covered back deck and beyond.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC

We couldn't have loved this property anymore than we do. We have stayed for vacation down in the Smoky Mountains for the past 10 years, renting different cabin each time. Timber Hideaway was by far our best cabin. Everything was perfect!! We will be returning next year. Thank you

The house and views are amazing. The house is well appointed and full of very nice features.

Only thing. The last 1/2 mile is a gravel road not paved.

A wonderful mountain retreat

The property was so beautiful. The pics don't do it justice. We thoroughly enjoyed my birthday weekend; from watching fireflies and bats from the balcony to relaxing in the hot tub admiring the views. The kitchen was well stocked. The dogs loved running around in the fenced in yard. Midway during our stay, we were already checking if there was availability during the holidays! We hope to be back for a visit soon.

Beautiful cabin!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This cabin is secluded, clean, and comfortable. The house was well-stocked, and the management company put up Christmas lights and left us some locally made pumpkin bread as a gift. The view is beautiful--when it's too cold for outdoor activities, you can just hang out on the couch and view the Black Mountains. One suggestion: please provide trail maps! We kept reading that there were trails in the neighborhood, but without maps, we were unable to locate the trail heads. Local trail maps of popular hikes in the area would be helpful, as well.

Beautiful Home

Timber Hideaway is a beautiful property. A few things that make it wonderful: -Check in and out process - very simple. -Location - the house is on an unpaved road but it easy enough to get to within the community if you follow the directions from the rental company. It is also close to I 40 and major sites (Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock.) House - very well stocked, has everything you may need. House was very clean upon arrival. Love that all light switches are labeled. Views are amazing! The backyard is sloped but great if you have a dog. It is completely fenced in and our pup had no issues navigating the slope. Outdoor space is great with the deck and hot tub as well as fire pit. 10/10 would return to this house again.

Fun Family Trip

We had a great stay at this cabin. The check in process was great - the property manager offered great communication and made it very seamless. It was the first time we had a chance to bring our dog and the fenced in backyard was a HUGE plus! The kids had a great time playing pool and ping pong and we enjoyed lots of family time in the Jacuzzi and by the fire pit. Easy drive to Asheville and Chimney Rock. Excellent place to stay - highly recommend!
