About this property
Beautifully appointed cottage, overlooking South Harbour, Scalpay
With the most stunning sea views across the Isle of Scalpay's natural South Harbour, this 3 bedroomed luxury self catering holiday home, offers a warm and welcoming place to explore all that Scalpay, Harris & Lewis and the wider Hebrides have to offer. Suitable for families, couples and groups of friends.
The original house - built over 100 years ago by Bannatyne MacLeod, a son of one of the original families to settle in Scalpay in 1842 - has been renovated to the highest specification by his descendants, ensuring that its family warmth, comfort and the best features of its harbour view are shown to best effect.
The house has a welcoming entrance area to kick of your boots and enjoy the warming properties of underfloor heating and the comfortable living and dining areas. The sun room, with its wonderful view, will encourage you to relax over a wonderful dram or gin from the award-winning Isle of Harris Distillery.
The living area is fully equipped with TV, sound system, Nintendo Wii and Wi-Fi. There is a luxury family bathroom downstairs and a lovely en-suite upstairs with rainfall shower. Toiletries are provided. The 3 bedrooms - a twin bed room with balcony, a master with super-king-size bed and en-suite and, downstairs, a bedroom with a king-size bed - all enjoy luxury bedding and Harris tweed furnishings.
The fully equipped kitchen has everything you are likely to need, including double oven, electric hobs, microwave, refrigerator, Tassimo coffee machine and dishwasher. The utility room houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and clothes driers. There is also a clothes drying area outside.
The spacious terrace, upstairs balcony and gardens provide relaxing outdoor spaces to enjoy your peaceful surroundings. Scalpay is a beautiful island, with great walks to the famed Eilean-glas lighthouse and Bein Scorabhaig, two natural harbours and a restaurant, play park and wonderful crafts to explore. The Isle of Scalpay is connected to Isle of Harris by a high span road bridge.
Harris has much to offer including breath-taking beaches just a short drive away, with white sands and aqua marine waters, reminiscent of warmer climes! You can also enjoy great walks and cycle routes, wonderful wildlife, galleries, cafes and craft shops, golf and great outdoor adventures, such as sea-kayaking, surfing, sailing. Visit us!
