About this property
The Old Workshop - Newlyn
Sleeping four guests, this lovely stone-built hideaway in the historic fishing port of Newlyn is perfect for a small family or couples wishing to explore beautiful West Cornwall. Newlyn is home to a bustling harbour, and you can buy your fresh-caught fish supper from one of the town’s fishmongers. Attractions include a fine art gallery, traditional pubs and great places to eat. Just a mile along the promenade is the colourful town of Penzance, where you’ll find more shops, restaurants and a splendid, heated Art Deco lido. Visit Mousehole harbour, just 1.8 miles away, and explore its cobbled streets and rich history. Charming Marazion (4.5 miles) offers a large expanse of sand, with fairy-tale St Michael’s Mount reached on foot or by boat at high tide. Perranuthnoe (8 miles) has a golden, family-friendly beach, complete with rock pools and a cafe.
Subtle colours throughout enhance the cottage’s appealing coastal theme. The pretty front garden leads to a glass porch and into the light and airy lounge, with white-painted beams, a pale wooden floor and comfortable seating by a wood burner. From here, walk three steps up to the bespoke, Shaker-style kitchen diner, which has everything you might need, plus a cosy dining corner. Still on the ground floor, the bright family bathroom houses a superb, roll-top bath and a traditional toilet with a high cistern. Upstairs, discover a wonderfully cosy snug with a desk by the window with a large monitor to plug your laptop into if needed, seating and a Smart TV with soundbar. There are two inviting bedrooms. The king-size to the front of the property boasts a charming window seat with sea views, while the zip-and-link super-king-size to the rear can be made up as a twin (on request at time of booking). This bedroom also has a sleek shower room and bi-fold doors onto a Juliet balcony.
Outside, the private front garden is enclosed by shrubs, and you can sit back and enjoy breath-taking views from the furnished raised terrace. The peaceful and secluded garden to the rear is also furnished and is sheltered by exuberant tree ferns and a fine Cornish stone wall. Please note, that the property sits high above Newlyn and therefore has a steep ascent. The elevated position is worth the climb up to this tranquil retreat and, for ease, cars can drop passengers immediately outside.
