We had been looking for over a year for a house full of history to live in with our family. In 2008, we fell in love with this 18th century country house and its outbuildings (cisterns, sheepfold, stable).
Its architecture is typical of the Valensole plateau, with walls made of pebbles from the Durance laid with lime, plastered walls and fireplaces. Its restoration took us 8 years, with difficult moments but also the satisfaction of having given new life to a piece of history...
The space
Gîte du Couchant:
On the Valensole plateau, in the heart of the Haute-Provence region and its lavender fields, in the Verdon Regional Natural Park, we welcome you all year round in our 18th century country house, listed in the general inventory of monuments and artistic treasures of France.
Surrounded by 120 hectares of truffle fields, the Clos de la Tuilerie is located on the edge of the hamlet of Saint-Grégoire, on the old transhumance route (draille) of the herds of Arles.
The calm, authenticity and panoramic view extending from Sainte-Baume to Dévoluy and from Luberon to Verdon characterize this unique place. You will have the opportunity to discover a corner of Provence that is often overlooked with an exceptional climate: more than 300 days of sunshine per year and a sky renowned for its purity, a paradise for amateur astronomers.
You can relax in the garden or by the pool, practice many sports activities (hiking, cycling, horse riding) or cultural activities in the immediate vicinity of the cottage.
Completely restored in 2012 and classified three ears of corn by Gîtes de France, the Levant cottage, with a surface area of 120m2, offers atypical volumes (vaulted room on the ground floor, high ceilings on the first floor).
It has an exceptional view of the garden, and beyond, on the Plateau de Valensole and the Southern Prealps, from the Pic de Bure (91 km) to the Verdon.
Functional and very comfortable, it can accommodate four people and has a separate entrance, a terrace and a garden.
-Interior equipment:
- Living-dining room fitted out in the old hayloft with stove, television (wall with exposed pebbles).
- Terrace accessible from the living room, with a garden table and chairs, for aperitifs or holiday meals
- Fully equipped kitchen area (electric oven, ceramic hob, extractor hood, microwave, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine).
- Separate toilet
- Two bedrooms: the first with a 160x200 cm bed, the second with 2 90x200 cm beds. All beds have duvets.
- A bathroom with walk-in shower and retro sinks.
The cottage is rented with bed linen and bath towels.
- Outdoor facilities:
In front of the cottage, you will find a private garden, furniture (table, chairs, deckchairs, parasol) and a barbecue.
- The family swimming pool is at your disposal from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Open from mid-May to the end of September (depending on weather conditions).
- For your comfort, parking is provided for our guests' vehicles.
To make your stay more enjoyable, if you come with children, we can provide you with a baby bed and a high chair.
Guest access
You will have access to the cottage, its terrace, its garden with 2 parking spaces.
