About this property
Belle Vue House - Seven Bedroom House, Sleeps 16
This fabulous home-from-home is a great choice for a large group – perhaps friends getting together for a special celebration or a multi-generational family holiday. The property is in a wonderful location within the town’s medieval walls, just steps from an array of shops, pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, and less than 0.5 miles from the town’s other beaches. In Tenby itself there’s plenty to do, from strolling through the narrow, cobbled streets (car-free in the summer) to booking a boat trip to see seals and dolphins, or to tranquil Caldey Island in the summer. Heading out of town, little ones will love Manor Wildlife Park, The Dinosaur Park Tenby and Heatherton World of Activity, all within 3.5 miles, while Manorbier, Carew and Pembroke Castles are all within 11 miles. Overlooking Tenby’s iconic North Beach and the harbour, the house has incredible views and steps through a secret tunnel from the garden that leads straight onto the harbour itself.
Steeped in history, the house's blue plaque tells the story of how Henry Tudor hid in Belle Vue’s cellars and used these steps to escape to a ship to France, before returning to win the War of the Roses’. Sympathetically restored in 2024, the six-storey house retains many of its impressive original features, including gorgeous fireplaces, panelled doors and timber shutters. High ceilings, generously sized rooms and large windows that frame beautiful views all contribute to the tranquil sense of space and light. From the front door, take the stairs down to the lower-ground floor, where there’s a snug/cinema room with a smart TV: a fabulous place to relax and recharge on the comfortable sofas, and boasting a football table for those who feel more energetic. You can even use the original dumb waiter to send drinks and snacks down from the kitchen. This level is also home to a useful utility/shower room, with laundry facilities and a hanging rail for wetsuits, plus a separate WC. On the ground floor you’ll have a study, handy for anyone who has to catch up with admin while away, and the open-plan kitchen/diner. This superb room has the feel of an old country house, with fitted cupboards and a large island, and even an open fire, as wells as its own steps directly down to the garden. From the long dining table and window seats there are views over the sand and sea. For the chef of the holiday, the kitchen is a delight, including everything necessary for creating group meals, including an induction hob, microwave and dishwasher. On the first floor, you’ll find a generously sized lounge with an array of comfortable seating, an ornamental fireplace and upright piano. This stately room boasts French doors leading to a balcony – the perfect place to sit and enjoy the views of the beach and harbour. Also on this level are a king-size bedroom and a family shower room. Head up to the second floor, where there’s another king-size bedroom (with beach views), a super-king-size bedroom, and a family bathroom with a shower over the bath. Three bedrooms are set on the third floor: a king-size with beach views and an en-suite shower room, a double which also has beach views, and a super-king-size with pretty views over rooftops. The latter two bedrooms share a shower room. Climb to the fourth floor and the final bedroom is a quadruple with four single beds. Perfect for children and teenagers, it also boasts a table tennis table in the centre that can be folded away to provide more space. This room has use of a huge bathroom with a fabulous free-standing bath and separate shower.
The outside space at the back of the house can be reached either via the snug/cinema room in the basement or down a set of external steps from the kitchen/diner. From the enclosed patio and lawn, you can head down to a large second patio with seating and then simply walk down the tunnel steps right onto the harbour and beach. For parking at this property, please use the nearby public car parks.
