About this property
The Lodge - Hallmark House
Perfect for exploring the idyllic countryside of both Kent and Sussex, this light-filled retreat makes a fantastic hideaway for couples enjoying a rural break. The friendly village of St Michaels is just half a mile away, with a choice of great places to eat and drink, before you head into cheerful Tenterden (2 miles), a quaint and historic town with a wide selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. Here, you can also take a traditional steam train journey on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. The property lies just a mile from the northeastern outskirts of the High Weald National Landscape, offering miles of breathtaking countryside for you to explore, a drive around Frittenden is recommended. The area is known for its scenic walks and is home to some of England’s finest vineyards. Local attractions include the winery estate of Chapel Down, the 14th-century Bodiam Castle, and the stunning Sissinghurst Castle Garden, all within 12 miles.
This cheery lodge is attached to the owner’s home but is completely private and separate. On entering, follow the stairs down and through to the bright and sunny open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner with its high vaulted ceiling. Light streams in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, making the fresh and airy lounge an ideal spot to unwind in after a great day out. The lounge features cosy seating – including a sofa bed for an additional guest – alongside a welcoming wood burner and a Smart TV, and backs onto the stylish central breakfast bar, perfect for dining together. Behind this, you will find a colourful and fully equipped kitchen. From the first lounge, a step leads up into a snug second lounge, with another wood burner and comfortable seating. Back upstairs, you will find a refreshing shower room and a charming bedroom with a lovely double bed, built-in wardrobes and a balcony overlooking the first lounge.
From the main lounge, doors open out and lead you to the pretty patio which has ample garden furniture, offering a relaxing spot for dining alfresco on a sunny afternoon. Just opposite, there’s a delightful bathhouse – cold water only, so perfect for guests enjoying an exhilarating plunge. There’s also a large and enclosed field, perfect for four-pawed guests to explore. Allocated off-road parking is available for two cars on the owner’s private drive, which is ideally situated behind secure electric gates.
