About this property
Unique Home in Central Dartmouth
Have fun with the whole family at this beautifully stylish home in the very heart of the Royal Port of Dartmouth with the River Dart on your doorstep. The perfect place to explore - just a short drive from Blackpool Sands, one of many stunning beaches or why not take a circular cruise sailing from the lower part of the River Dart viewing the castles at the estuary, Britannia Royal Naval College and towards Agatha Christie's Greenway Estate? Stay for a week, a weekend won't be long enough!
Access the property via the steps up to the front door and enter the hallway with stripped wooden floors. Once inside, on the right is a stylish, cosy and comfortable lounge area with a smart television including Sky Stream, open fireplace and views over the town.
The hallway has been opened up to reveal the stunning dining room with beautiful stripped wooden floors, exposed lath and plaster wall, brick fireplace with wood burning stove, Sonos surround sound and access to the courtyard area with bbq. Please note the spiral staircase in the courtyard is not in use.
Through to the fully equipped kitchen with boiling water tap and as well as the Smeg fridge freezer, there is a second integrated compact freezer plus dishwasher, washing machine and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a small desk and seat in front of the window, perfect for working from home and the property benefits from high speed internet, another big bonus for the area.
Up to the first floor and enter the industrial-style bathroom with polished plaster walls and a relaxing bath with a waterfall tap. The side window is perfect for watching nature's activity on the hillside or looking up through the skylight to see the stars and sky at night. This cleverly designed bathroom has complete privacy but lots of light!
Next to the bathroom is the victorian style cloakroom with fabulous botanical wallpaper and a very convenient convenience. Situated right next door to the cosy double bedroom with hanging space and window to the rear of the property.
At the front of the property is the stunning and spacious master bedroom with king size bed and wardrobe, feature fireplace and more views to enjoy over the town. And still, there's more.
Back into the hallway and although you may have passed it the first time, the concealed doorway to the attic room is right next door. Up the steep and narrow staircase to the eaves where two comfy twin beds are located with skylights and an infrared radiator cleverly disguised as the iconic Japanese artwork, The Breaking Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. This is a great space for young teens and even has a transparent speaker!
There is underfloor heating throughout the property but also, plug-in heaters are supplied if needed.
This property has an eclectic mix of mid-century modern furniture, industrial-style decor as well as traditional features and is a great space for a multi-generational family or two couples with children.
In the interests of sustainability, the underfloor heating is powered by carbon-friendly air source heat pumps. Additionally, where possible, we only use environmentally friendly products such as Who Gives a Crap toilet paper, Method washing up liquid and hand/body wash in glass bottles rather than the single use plastic travel size shampoos etc.
We will provide tea bags and instant coffee but not Nespresso pods. We do not supply perishable goods such as bread and milk.
However, if there is anything that you fall short of, there is a Spar shop a 5 minute walk along Victoria Road.
The whole property is accessible to the guests.
However, you can contact the local property manager, Ali, via Airbnb, email or phone to provide any assistance you may need.
As with all of Dartmouth, in peak season parking can be tricky but the house is situated close to free parking at Dartmouth Market but not on Saturdays and down hill from the Park and Ride. Additionally, you can pull up to the property to unload and there is unrestricted parking in half of Victoria Road on a first come, first serve basis or paid-for parking a short walk away in Mayors Avenue Car park. Please note that if you have a non-uk phone, you may not be able to use the ringo app.
The steps up to the property and up to the attic room are both steep and the roof pitch of the attic room is low so adults cannot stand full height. No parties allowed. Parking is available in Mayor Avenue Car park or you may be lucky and find a space along Victoria Road and nearby streets. Alternatively, there is the park and ride at the top of town with bus stops along Victoria Road.
