About the Building
First Residence was built over 100 years ago. Its successive uses were, among others, a hotel and Villa, In the 1930’s Lady Ducker purchased the property and the adjacent five acres when she converted the hotel into a residence. She was one of the foremost social doyens on the French Riviera and entertained and housed the likes of Pablo and Olga Picasso, Dorothy Parker, Dos Passos, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Cole Porter and Ernest Hemingway. If you go to the Beach at La Garoupe, you will note that this is where the social climate of the era began.
The Area (La Ponteil)
Is the very beginning of the Cap d’Antibes. You are in one of the most convenient and extraordinary locations in Western Europe. Moving from the inside out—5 minute walk to one of the sandiest beaches in the area, 10 minutes to Place de Gaulle or the town center, 10 minutes to Vieil Antibes or the old City (500 yrs old village and fortification), 10 minute walk to jumpin Juan Les Pins (amazing Jazz festivals in the summer),20 minutes to Nice or Cannes by rail or car, 30 minutes to Monaco, 40 minutes to Italy, 1.5 hours to the Alps and ski lifts! I ride my bike to Cannes in under 30 minutes!

Nice location, but vey bad odour in the kitchen.

Quiet area, nice poolarea and very good location close to beach and restaurants. There was no barbecue available as stated in the descriprion, but for this we where compensated. Unfortunately it smelled like urin in the kitchen coming from under the zink. We pointed this out , bit this was not fixed during our stay.

Mold permeated the air and bathroom-terrible smell

The owner does not do a good job of maintaining this property. It is neglected for half the year so mold grows for half a year and no one cleans it. There may be a bigger mold problem than the owner realizes. When I arrived the apartment was not cleaned for the season to at least to hide the problem. I also smelled sewage in the kitchen. The mold covered a vent in the bathroom and was all over the shower. I had an allergic reaction to the mold. By the second day, my nose was running whenever I was in the apartment and I coughed. I was unable to continue my stay. There was a musty smell and sewage smell as well inside the apartment. I was unable to cover it up with scented candles. The neighbors dislike the owner and told me about it. The neighbors also resent having VRBO guests at the property and are not happy to see you.

Lovely stay!

Wonderful place with pool and private walk-in. The apartment is very nice, all equipment and amenities were in terrific working order. Short walk to the beach, and pretty close to the Old Town of Antibes as well (about 20 minutes). Property management is very nice and communicative. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

Great location, quiet but warning about parking

This one bedroom apartment is located 5-10 minute walk from the nice public beaches and town centre of Antibes. It shares a private pool with a handful of other apartments and we often had it to ourselves. The apartment is small enough for a couple with a small child and equipped with everything you need. Communication with the owner and their local agent to collect keys was quick and efficient. Warning though: the entrance to the garage is narrow and I broke a wing mirror. We have a BMW estate and it took a few attempts to negotiate the main gate, driveway (without scratches from the hedge) and turning into the space. If you have an SUV it’s unlikely to fit and if you have a low sports car you may scrape underneath driving in/out of the garage. There is free street parking if you can find a space nearby.
