About this property

Waterfront Home On An Exclusive Island In The Lagoon Of Port St Charles Barbados

The moment that you enter ‘Windward’ you will begin to experience an atmosphere of luxury. The entrance approached through landscaped gardens draws you straight to cool tropical furnishings of the spacious living room and then the spectacular views beyond through the sun terrace of the tranquil aquamarine waters of the lagoon and and the splendid yachts in their moorings. You will be soothed by the gentle breeze of the Tradewinds wafting through the apartment to bring a refreshing feel to this tropical climate.
This unusually large, air conditioned apartment with comfortable luxury has everything for the perfect holiday or extended stay, a well appointed kitchen with its open counter through to the living room, two super large bedrooms each with their own marble tiled bathrooms, a dining/sun lounging terrace, a plunge pool, and one of the most idyllic beaches in Barbados.
LOCATION INFORMATION
Located on the small island in the lagoon in the beautiful marina resort of Port St Charles, boasting one of the best beaches and reefs in Barbados. Peaceful setting.
Port St Charles is 500m north of the small historic town of Speightstown. Here Caribbean life is as it has been for hundreds of years, with the fishermen bringing in the day's catch to be sold at the town's fish market, the colourfully dressed ladies by the side of the main street selling fresh fruit and vegetables, the general hustle and bustle of a genuine Caribbean 'town'. There are also small supermarkets, a variety of shops, art galleries, rum bars, and restaurants. The more modern Holetown is 15 mins and Bridgetown the capital 30 mins away. Travel by bus (a hair raising ride in a yellow bus for $2) or more sedately by car or taxi.
The wild rugged East Atlantic coast is about 20 minutes away. Between PSC and there enjoy visiting Plantation Houses, working Sugar Cane fields, villages, the hills of Scotland, amazing vistas and more.

Why we chose Port St Charles: Owned by David and Lisa Stoute. We fell in love with Port St Charles the first time we drove past the gated entry in 2002. We were exploring the Northern part of the island, and just had to stop and view this delightful place. Construction was still going on, but the place was so beautifully managed it didn’t matter.
We viewed several apartments, but the added bonus of a plunge pool on the terrace and being close to the water left us with no option but to choose 'Windward'. We have had no regrets since. The ambience in the apartment and in Port St Charles is so relaxing and refreshing. It is a delight to walk around Port St Charles taking in the beautiful tropical gardens and the heavy scent of flowers. We are also so fortunate to have one of the best swimming/ snorkelling/ sunbathing beaches on the island, and despite all beaches in Barbados being public the beach at Port St Charles is never busy. There is no need for me to say all this - just read the reviews, and you will wish to stay here too.

Our secong long stay at Winward

Once again we loved the comfort and convenience of this lovely well kept apartment. We stayed for 7 weeks again this year. Port St. Charles is ideal for a restful holiday. The location of the apartment on the island is very quiet but there is always activity to watch with the boats going in and out of the Yatch club. We used the water taxi more this year. A great way of getting to the Yatch club for a drink and the food was very good. It also helps for a quick journey to the lovely Sandy beach and then enjoy a walk back to enjoy the gardens which are kept so well. Food shopping in Speightown and Holetown makes self catering so easy. A large fridge and freezer means it can be done infrequently.

Amazing and Magicial

This property is truly amazing. The space was perfect for our family. The apartment had everything we needed. The welcome package in the fridge was on point and so helpful for our first evening and morning. ALL of the property employees where kind and helpful. Glenda had the apartment in perfect order on her days there ( a miracle with twin 4 yr olds!) The pools, the Yacht Club, and Beach where all stunning! We spent hours at the beach collecting sea glass and just as much time in the pool. Speightstown was a short distance away (however the walk was a little far with the kids) that had an amazing bakery a delicious fish fry and more beautiful beaches. Dave and Lisa where easy to reach, kind, helpful, and accommodating. This property is a short drive to The Flower Cave and to the Wildlife Reserve. Two places I highly recommend visiting while in Barbados especially with children. I could go on for days about how lovely Windward is but I think you should see for yourself. Thank you Lisa and Dave for opening up your home and for helping us make wonderful memories with our kids. We hope to return soon.

Amazing!!!

We stayed in this beautifully appointed and fully equipped apartment in Port St. Charles for one week. The master bedroom had an American king size bed - perfect for my 6'5" husband. Large ensuite bathroom with double sink vanity and lots of storage. Plenty of hot water. Lots of Closet space in the bedroom with tons of hangers. The kitchen had fridge with built in ice maker and water dispenser. The veranda was fantastic - the private plunge pool was an excellent place to cool off. Water taxi will take you to the beach or yacht club - just call reception.. Very fast . I would recommend a trip to Holetown to the Massey supermarket to pick up groceries - they have everything. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely apartment in quiet location

This was our second visit to Port St. Charles. As before we found the staff welcoming and the marina very well maintained, especially the gardens. The yacht club restaurant is a pleasant location to visit during the day or in the evening. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped with pleasant furnishings, all of which were well cared for regularly during our visit. We have already booked for next year and hopefully will return for many years to come.

8th visit to PSC October Half Term

Great holiday as always shame the Yacht Club was closed the first week. The new chef needs to improve too!! Apartment was great and we really appreciated being allowed to stay in until 14.00 thank you. Just one observation the 2nd bedroom really could do with proper curtains. Thank you excellent service would highly recommend you. Regards, Sam

A Lovely apartment in a great location

We had a lovely trip for 10 days in September, we normally stay in a hotel but wanted to try an apartment. We felt very safe and secure here with very well maintained grounds and a lovely beach and reef for snorkelling on your doorstep. We were delighted with the apartment the welcome package from Lisa was really useful and much appreciated, everything was clean and spacious and looked exactly like the photos. It was very quiet when we stayed which suited us as we had the pool and the beach to ourselves most days. The only thing that was disappointing was that the yacht club was closed during our stay and so there was no where to go on site for a drink or snack ,we will return to Windward which was great but will choose a time when the club is open.

Our private Oasis

Fabulous condo, beautifully decorated, zen feel. Vacationed the end of April and had the spectacular infinity pool to ourselves daily. Utilized the water taxi for a tour of the property and then to a stunning white sand beach. We felt like we were living among the rich and famous. Local transit right outside the front gate. We took the local transit to the Animal Flower Cave for a delicious lunch over looking the north shore and then through the cave. A short stroll to Speightstown for shopping and restaurants.

Second visit as good as the first

This was our second visit to Windward, so obviously we were happy with the property! We visited with another couple for 10 days at the beginning of March. The unit was as presented in the photos. Lots of space for 4 people. Comfortable beds and quiet location. Especially enjoyed the outside space, comfortable furniture and room to lounge and enjoy the great weather. Good WiFi, and for those who enjoy a movie at night, good viewing options on the TV. We ate dinner at home most nights, and the kitchen is well stocked (although a little tight for more than one person to work in). Plenty of pots, pans and sharp knives (a must for my husband, the cook!). The beach at this property is great, lounge chairs and umbrellas can be set up at your request. Great snorkelling right off the beach! One thing missing, a cooler for taking cold drinks and snacks down to the beach, this would have been a positive addition to the stay. Speightstown is within walking distance. Local fish market provides fresh, cheap fish on a daily basis. Lots of local vendors on the street in order to purchase reasonably priced fruit and vegetables. Wine and beer can be bought in Speightstown, although better selection is available in Holetown. Plenty of restaurant options as well. Enjoyed a meal at the Fishermen's Pub, loved the owner with his matching hat and bow tie! Dinner at the Fish Pot was excellent as well. Would return if another trip to Barbados is in our future!

Fantastic place in a wonderful setting

We stayed last year and had to come back this year again because it's so lovely. It's a little slice of heaven which is luxury for my wife and I to relax in, but also loved by the kids for the choice of pools, stunning beach or yacht club....with swim up bar for easy milkshake access! The reef just off the beach is packed with fish, turtles and a charming squid family! So pack a snorkel kit. Everything from the apartment to the grounds to the beaches is very well maintained. All the staff are super friendly and helpful too. Lisa and David are great hosts and also sorted us out a car for our stay. We usually like to try different countries and villas....but Barbados & Windward are so good we had to come back. Problem is....I'm not sure we will be able to stop! Thanks for everything Lisa & David. Great memories again.

We loved the villa it was spotless and close to lots of amenities.

We had a fantastic holiday with our two children here. The villa had everything we could wish for. Perfect location with a fabulous beach. We have mixed views of the yacht club but the apartment and beach were 5 star. We would love to come back.

Beautiful Stay in Barbados

This property was absolutely perfect. Very well maintain and just like it looks in the photos. The location was very convenient to golf, shopping and beaches (the three things we cared most about). Lisa was extremely helpful and responsive during our stay helping us through some sticky points of our own causing. All-in-all it was a wonderful stay and I would recommend this unit highly. Don't miss Fisherman's Pub in Speightstown. Its true Bajan food in a wonderful local setting. We weren't too sure at first but the food is great and the owner very friendly and colorful. Check it out.

Blown away by this little piece of heaven

Within 20 seconds of opening the door I was already being told that we should book for next year. Welcome pack was thoughtful and the monkeys around the pool were a bonus. I am normally a sod when it comes to having the ac on but there was always a nice breeze through the apartment so that it was rarely needed. The space and decor are relaxing and the area peaceful. The beach is one of the best we have found on the island ,clean sand ,reef protected and with a resident turtle. The call from the owners to make sure we were happy was also a lovely touch. Hopefully it will be available next year. Many thanks to David and Lisa for letting us share their place if only for a short time

Stunning property.

This property did not disappoint. The description was accurate and the apartment was very clean and very well maintained. We felt very welcome and the place was kept clean and tidy by a very nice cleaning lady. It is so beautiful here that I wish I had more time. There is a water taxi that we took to the beach and the yacht club. The food there was very good but because this location is so close to Speightstown we ate locally most days. The Best experience so far and we will definitely return to stay her again.

Beautiful!

We based this rental on the number of positive reviews and were not disappointed! My husband and I along with another couple stayed for a week and the apartment is large enough so no one feels crowded. We also loved to sit outside and have coffee or dine on the patio. The welcome kit was truly welcome! We did not rent a car after seeing how some locals drive (especially on the wrong side of the road for us), but really we didn't need a car. We hired a cab to Holetown to do grocery shopping but for the most part took the local buses and Reggae busses were a real adventure! We did have the opportunity to meet Terry & Yvette of Terrvette Tours who we hired a number of times and in particular for a tour around the North end of the island and also airport transportation. They're the best too! The beach here is perfect and the Yacht Club was a nice place to go for dinner if you didn't want to walk. We also liked Speightstown with all of the little restaurants and bars right on the beach. The outdoor grill was out for repair while we were there, so we weren't able to cook outside - but only a minor inconvenience! Everything else is absolutely as pictured and described. Very clean, spacious and beautiful.

Wonderful Windward

We enjoyed a first rate holiday in Windward at Port St Charles. The apartment was in excellant condition, new furnishings, and very clean. Along with The Crane and Sandy Lane, the beach must be one of the best on the island, and Speightstown gives a better impression on life on the island than Holetown. Any pressure on Port St Charles to reopen the bar/light meals on the pool island would improve an already very good resort.

Beautiful apartment in a great ambience

We had a lovely holiday at Port St. Charles. The apartment was very nice and we loved to sat outside on the wonderful terrace. Every morning we visited the pool that was only 2 minutes away in the middle of the lagoon. To the beach we took the watertaxi or had a lttle walk. The beach is really marvellous. The employee were always friendly and helpful. If we needed help Lisa was there for us. We can absolutely recommend the apartment. Lisa, Thank You for our fantastic holidays. Kind regards. Windward, the perfect place to relax.

We enjoyed our stay at Windward so much we stayed for an extra three days, it still wasn't long enough. It was our seventh visit to Barbados, the first time staying in an apartment and we were so pleased to have found such a lovely, comfortable one. Nicola has provided everything one could possibly need, particularly happy with the comfortable bed and good bed linen. We appreciated the ice maker, and made good use of the electric griddle on the terrace cooking lots of mahi-mahi and flying fish which we bought at the nearby Speightstown fish market. We had a lunch and dinner at Fishpot, a nicely laid back beach restaurant and spent a very enjoyable evening at The Tides restaurant recommended by Nicola. Glenda the housekeeper was so helpful and keeps the property in very good order. As we know Barbados quite well we didn't feel the need to stray very far from the apartment, in fact my husband spent most of his time in the plunge pool a book in one hand and a Banks beer in the other! Port St Charles is a great place to stay, good quiet beach, liked the water taxi and enjoyed the Yacht Club. We hope to visit again one day and would highly recommend this particular apartment.

Peaceful, Picture Perfect Paradise

We spent a wonderful week at "Windward" in Port St. Charles. The apartment was exactly as described, clean, well stocked and spacious. The "getting started" food basket of coffee, tea, jams, cheese and rum punch was a very nice touch and much appreciated. The pictures on the website do not come close to doing the beautiful marina setting of Port St. Charles justice! The property and surrounding area was clean and well maintained. Nicola (the owner) was quick to respond to all our questions. We did not rent a car, but did not need one. Groceries and restaurants are a short taxi ride away. Better yet, try the local buses for a less expensive option - and truly an adventure! The local folks are very friendly and always willing to help tourists with their questions. The apartment did not have a barbeque, however the electric grill was an acceptable substitute. The beach was great. A quick call to the front desk and we had beach chairs and umbrellas ready and waiting when we arrived. Very good snorkeling right off the beach. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday away from the hustle of the touristy areas, yet close enough to shopping, site seeing and good restaurants, Port St. Charles is the perfect choice. Definitely on our do-again list, thank you Nicola!

Great holiday in a beautiful apartment

Spent just over 2 weeks with my husband and parents in this lovely, very comfortable apartment and we all had a fabulous time, could have stayed a lot longer, plus the beds were very comfortable! The apartment is perfectly located overlooking the boats and the marina, and very quiet. It is also right next to one of the best beaches in Barbados - which is where we spent a lot of our time swimming and relaxing. Speightstown is a pleasant 10 minute walk away along the beach, and we also loved Gibbes beach which is not far away. We had some very nice meals at the Yacht club, and then in the second week when we rented a car had some enjoyable meals at the Fishpot, the Beach House, and the Roundhouse. Port St Charles is a great place to stay, ideally situated for some beautiful, quiet beaches. Wish I was there now...

Tranquil Stay at Port St. Charles

We have been spending our winter vacations at Port St. Charles for the past decade; a luxurious & well maintained property. We have stayed in this particular unit for the past several years. The apartment has beautiful living spaces, an outdoor dining area, plunge pool, full kitchen, washer & dryer. The unit is also close to two swimming pools, a pool bar, restaurant, tennis courts & two gorgeous beaches. The apartment is clean, bright, quiet, & well maintained. We look forward to our next stay in 2014.

Amazing Apartment

I stayed at Windward with my family and it was very comfortable, clean and very peaceful. It was a home way from home with everything that we needed. We used the outside dining area every day for breakfast, enjoying the view of the lagoon and watching the occasional yacht pass by. I am particularly fussy about bathrooms and these two did not let me down. They were spacious and clean with great showers. We all had a go on the kayaks that were provided, some of us were more successful than others but it was great fun. My husband even used the kayak to visit the Yacht Club to pick up some bottles of beer. I can assure you that he didn't use the kayak to return the empties! The Yacht Club is part of PSC and they have great food there. The staff are incredibly friendly. They gave my daughter some bread to feed the turtles and we enjoyed watching the Olympics in the bar. Bajans are some the friendliest people in the world! The welcome pack on arrival was greatly appreciated. It was nice to have some essentials for breakfast, snacks and even a drop of rum punch to welcome us. All the information and communication with Nicola leading up to and during our stay was great as was all the information provided in the apartment from restaurants, shops, and places to visit. Port St. Charles is at the north of the island so it is out of the way of all the busy tourist spots and night life which was perfect for us. The island is small so it doesn't take long to get get anywhere by car. Speightstown is about a 10 minute walk away. Holetown is the second nearest town, more cosmopolitan and about a 10 minute drive away with a variety of nice restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend the Lime Grove Centre in Holetown, especially the cinema. The Beach House Restaurant has amazing food. We enjoyed The Fish Pot restaurant in St Lucy as well as it's sister restaurant The Atlantis on the East coast. The beach is where we spent most of our time and at it's busiest I counted just 30 people. It's a real treat to take a water taxi to the beach and have your sun loungers and umbrellas waiting for you on your arrival. We had an absolutely fantastic time in Windward, Port St Charles, a water taxi ride away from the beach and in such beautiful and serene surroundings made it all so much more enjoyable and relaxing. I certainly would love to return to Barbados and this apartment again soon.

Luxurious apartment in a perfect setting

We have just returned from a fantastic holiday in Barbados where we stayed at Windward in Port St Charles. As regular visitors to Barbados for many years I would say that this is one of the best locations and apartments that we have stayed in. Just north of the quiet town of Speightstown, Port St Charles provides a real haven of peace, quiet and luxury. The apartment provided everything we could have hoped for and more. The most difficult decision of the day was whether to go and chill out at the yacht club, the beautiful beach or the lagoon pool. The apartment's plunge pool overlooking the lagoon is a great place to sit and watch the beautiful yachts sail by and the fabulous outdoor dining area is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a candle lit dinner or a glass of wine. Travel around Port St Charles is by water taxi and it is a great way to travel . We sat on the dock and hand fed a family of mullet and watched the turtles come and go past our door. If you want to be somewhere busy with nightlife and traffic then you should go further South on the island but if you want to kick off your shoes forget about the rest of the world in a luxurious apartment that provides all that you could possibly need, then this is the place for you. Nicola was so helpful and provided us with lots of information about Barbados which was great - the only problem we had was leaving to come home! We had a wonderful time and will definitely be going back!
