Ponderosa Place, A Beautiful Country Home on 3 Acres with a Pond and Wildlife

Our home which we call "Ponderosa Place" is nestled in a beautiful area overlooking the valley with beautiful mountain views. The location is ideal, being only 1 mile off of Hwy 550 and only a few minutes from town. Within about 60 miles from Telluride ski slopes and all kinds of outdoor activities available including fly-fishing, biking, off-roading (only a few miles from BLM land) swimming, mountain climbing etc.., the world-famous Ouray ice climbing park about 30 min away.

Our house sits on 3 acres that has an abundance of wildlife including migratory water fowl that enjoy the spring fed pond. Beautiful green grass and a large deck complete with patio furniture, grill out the back and two car attached garage.

Inside the rooms are beautifully furnished with high ceilings in the living area 3 bedrooms and a cozy bedroom/hangout room upstairs. Master bedroom has king size bed, large walkin closet. Also has private glass shower and separate large tub.
Living room has a large sectional couch that seats 7-8 people with large flat screen tv .

Large kitchen with bar/bar stools, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, oven/stove, refrigerator/freezer, water filter system, kitchen table/chairs. Kitchen also has a window seat with a beautiful views of the mountains, pond and pasture, this is a favorite spot for many.

Only about 15 minutes from Montrose airport (MTJ) and transportation is available to airport from property. Also if needed we could do a grocery pickup if you order online from one of the local grocery stores.
The house can accommodate 12 or more but an additional charge will apply if there are more then 8 people.
So bring your clothes and relax!



Sorry no pets in house however Iron Will Dog Kennel is located 1/4 mile from property or a heated outside doghouse may be available upon request. This house has always been a smoke and pet free house.

Great location for us to hike black canyon and Jeep in Ouray.

Family Gathering

We had for people 50+, and a young couple with a 9 year old stay for four nights. We also had other family members in town and used this home as a gathering place for a couple of meals. There's plenty of room, kitchen is well stocked, a nice deck with a beautiful view. It can be a bit tricky to find with GPS. Better to use the instructions the owner provides. Would definitely recommend this property and would stay again.

April Stay in Montrose

This is a great house in a very nice location. The house was very accommodating to a family group. However, there are many maintainence issues that should be taken care of. The most concerning is a loose railing in the upstairs loft area. Also, the fans up there are not safe. They are swaying and swinging lose and appear to be ready to fall to the floor if running. Additionally, there is no screen on the window in the loft so it was hard to get good air movement up there. Others issues include: whenever all the lights were on in the kitchen or even the wrong combination, the lights kept tripping and blowing a fuse. We finally figured out it was the under counter lights causing it. The dishwasher is not working so my sons had to go on-line and figure out how to reset the dishwasher to get it to run two loads of dishes. Lastly, the house could use some thorough cleaning and bug control as we found several spiders and one of us was bitten by something, seems like a spider bite, during the night in bed. By having these things resolved, it could make a stay at this site that much better.

This property was one of my all-time favorite stays! The pictures do not do it justice! The home is beautiful and immaculately clean. We had plenty of space, all the amenities we needed, and the area/views were breath taking! We would love to stay here again!

Perfect location

This location was close enough to town and wasn’t on top of the neighbors. The home was clean and had everything we needed for a quick trip to see our nephew get married. We’d stay here in the future!

There were 7 of us in town for a wedding. The location was perfect. Out of town a bit and away from the road. It was a great house for us with plenty of space and comfortable beds. Excellent Rental Home

We have done VRBO homes as vacation base camps for a number of years now, and this rental was up near the top of our list of great experiences. We are two retired couples, and this home had plenty of space for us to spread out and relax when back from sight seeing. If we ever travel again to this area of Colorado, we will definitely want to rent this home again !!!!!!

Exceeded expectations.

This was our second year to stay at the same property, so obviously we are pleased on everything from pricing, location, to cleanliness/functionality of the home. However, this time we encountered a flight cancellation and the family who owns the house went absolutely above and beyond in order to help my family out in a tough situation. This type of compassion and generosity exhibited from the homeowners is a rare find in today’s world. They did more than expected and left our family feeling blessed. I am trying think of ways I could pay back in thankfulness. I would always look to rent property from this family.

Great location in the countryside but close to town

Everyone on our trip loved this property. We sat on the deck each evening enjoying the views of the mountains and just listening to the country sounds. We were able to cook on the grill and enjoy eating outside. The home is located very close to town so easy to access Walmart to stock up for our needs. Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park is very close by. We also went to Ouray and rented a side by side for the day and enjoyed exploring the mountains. We would definitely recommend this location. The down side is there is only 2 bathrooms. One of them is in the master bedroom and has no door for privacy. Even if a simple barn door was installed it would fix that. Having only 2 bathrooms was a little difficult with a large group. We made it work for the few days and it didn’t cause any difficulty for our group. One last thing, arrive during the daylight because it is hard to find the driveway (even with GPS).

This house was great! We had 2 adults, 5 kids,1 teenager and did not feel overcrowded at all. We enjoyed the location since most of our activities were towards Ridgway, Ouray, and Silverton. The fire pit was fun for s'mores too. I hope to be back soon!
