We are more at peace here than in any other place we have ever visited. The Hays Beach community is calm and neighborly and the expansive views of the Bay water and the forest and creek/lake are captivating. We live in a suburb of Washington DC and like many others, our days and weeks are filled with time spent in "the box" of an office, a house, a school and a car. Being outdoors is one thing. Being outdoors where our 360 degree view to the horizon is filled with the expanse of the Chesapeake Bay, tall forest and marshy creek, opens up your mind and heart out of "the box".
We enjoy the pace of this place, exploring Maryland's history, the natural environment which surrounds the property, the sounds of birds, tall trees, listening to the water, noticing how the beach changes, kayaking, taking photographs, collecting stones and sea glass, chasing crabs, walking back through the Creek, taking walks, riding bikes, meeting and talking with neighbors, watching our friends and families children explore nature, run and play and learn to crab -- we have never had a "negative" experience here, always, always feel better after having visited and we always miss it the minute we leave Holly Drive.
You likely will too.
