About this property

Cedar Oaks Lakeside Resort - Houghton Lake - Formally Ohana / Riviera Resort.

Cedar Oaks Lakeside Resort - Previously Ohana / Riviera Resort - Under New Ownership

This air conditioned cottage is the perfect space for your family getaway. This 2 unit package is made up of both lower levels of the 1 story blue cottages. There are 4 units between the two houses. Cottage 10 & 11 (the units you are renting with this package), are the two bottom floors that walk out to the property. Each unit has two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 pull out couch, and sleeps 5.

The best part of this cottage is the access to the gorgeous shared property and amenities that surround it. You will have access to our 200' dock to fish off of. Please bring your own anchors / tie downs for boat storage. We have over 300' of lakefront to swim and play in, a huge 40'x40' sandbox full of toys for the kids, multiple gas BBQ grills for you to use and many picnic tables for outdoor eating and relaxing. We also have two fire pits for use on the property.

These cottages comes with one set of fresh sheets, blankets, pillows and towels. If you will need more than one set for your stay please bring additional ones as we do not do exchanges or have a washer/dryer available for guest use. There are basic dishes, glasses and silverware and pots/pans for your use, but if you plan on doing a lot of cooking I suggest bringing specific cookware that you want. We do supply you with toilet paper, hand soap, dish soap, and paper towel, but do not refill once it has been used.

If golf is your game there are many great golf courses nearby:
1. The quest is a great track that is close and a great value.
2. We are located 30 min away from Forest Dunes, the number two public course in Michigan (Second to Arcadia). Forest Dunes also just opened the highly anticipated reversible course.
3. You also have The Fox, Redwood Golf Course, Ye Olde Country Club, The Nightmare, and the Dream

Main crossroads are M55 (W. West Branch Rd) and East Houghton Lake Dr (also known as 100).

Cozy place with a lot going for it

There was a bit of confusion at check in due to the vrbo listing and what the property manager thought the booking was, but it was quickly cleared up by the manager who went out of her way to make sure we got the most out of our time there. The rooms are definitely dated and could use some updates, but for an up north cabin, it didn't matter any to us. Everything was clean, which was the important thing. The property has fire pits and a sandbox and a restaurant on site (we were only on town overnight and didn't get it). It also has access to Houghton Lake and a nice sandy bottom that you can walk out hundreds of feet into. At night we built a fire in the giant pit and roasted marshmallows. Although it was a friend's trip, the property would be excellent for families with all the outdoor play space and water access (ladder from dock or angled sea wall). This is not a luxury listing but it was clean and comfortable. The beds were small but comfortable, with plenty of linens and towels provided. We enjoyed out stay and would certainly consider staying again.

Worst place I have ever stayed. False advertising on the website!!

The owners of this property should be ashamed of themselves. I have pictures of the conditions that we stayed in. Susie the property manager was great with us , however what she has on her hands is something I would walk away from. I would like to know if the owners who live in West Bloomfield would stay one hour with their families in the cabins. We were in 10 and 11. I am going to say absolutely not! I will be reaching out for a complete refund and will pursue any other action if need be.

Family vacation

Check in process was easy. Cottages were dated and needed repairs. The screen wouldn't stay on track in one cottage and the other cottage the screen needed to be repaired. At one point mgmt asked me to fix it. The property has potential but was overtaken by goose droppings. Another guest complained and mgmt handed her a rake to clean the beach area. The sand box was also full of goose droppings. Again, the property has potential just needs some TLC and property upkeep

Needs updates and repairs

Not worth the cost for stay. The rentals are outdated. The screen doors on both units were broke. A/C didn't work in one unit. The stove in another. The beds were run down including fold out. Couch were old with crap seats. Filthy under the bed.. All outside furniture grills etc is first come first serve. One tie out in lake that couldn't hold a jet ski. The photos of rentals are deceiving...the view is of lake is accurate-it is beautiful. Wouldnt stay again

Cottage on the lake

Good location right on the lake for a weekend of ice fishing with friends. The cottages could use some updates and our door was difficult to open and close. Other than that, it was fine for our purposes. The office staff were all very friendly too!

Nice views

Location was great. The rooms were not as clean as they could have been. Found mask in the couch and q tip in the bedroom. Sleeper sofas worked better as a couch. The restaurant offered great food and tasty cocktails with a great view.

Beautiful sunsets!

We had a great time enjoying Houghton lake. The two cabins we rented worked out good for our family, however they are in need of updates. Bathrooms were really small. Appliances and decor appear to be from the seventies.

Beautiful view and location

Great location and wonderful views. The options of different rental cottages on the property would be great for large groups. None of our devices could find Wifi but we didn't inquire about it so if Wifi is a must have double check that the cabins have Wifi to them. Would recommend and would stay again.
