Absolute paradise

My wife and I just returned from Villa Sea Forever, and I can tell you that we absolutely loved it. We visit Costa Rica every year and the serenity and privacy of this property is incredible. I can tell you to take Thomas’ advice and arrive before nightfall your first day. Unfortunately, we did not take that advice and arrived after dark, and the drive up the mountain is a little daunting to say the least.but once you find the property it’s not very difficult the rest of the week.since we arrived in the dark we woke the next morning in complete awe of the stunning view from our master suite. It is even more spectacular than the pictures.we felt as though we were the only ones on the mountain with jungle surrounding us and a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean and the whales tail. The master suite itself is incredible, very spacious with huge terrace to just sit and listen to all the birds and jungle critters.. you will never want to leave. The pool is very large with spectacular views as well. The design of the house is very unique with its outdoor kitchen, and although we did not cook very much , everything you need is there for you.( keep in mind that there is no oven, just a stovetop and microwave.we opted to eat out most days, and I would highly recommend Scala restaurant and cafe which is about halfway down the mountain.its a little pricey but very good.. All in all a wonderful experience and many thanks to Thomas for allowing us to share this piece of heaven Pura Vida

Other worldly tranquility

The listing pictures of this home are beautiful, and it somehow is even more beautiful in person. The views of the ocean and the rain forest are magical. The whole home is designed to engage you with nature, yet is still quite comfortable. Unforgettable, once in a lifetime experience.

Amazing Views

While the pictures just don't do the view justice, the property is as described in the description. My wife and I stayed at the property for a week and enjoyed the seclusion and privacy of this property and experience of being emerged in the jungle that surrounds it. It truly allowed us the opportunity to relax and unwind. Many other reviews have commented on the drive to the property. With even a little experience driving on dirt roads, this was not as daunting as it has been described. A 4WD vehicle is needed, but the drive is what allows the property to be as remote as it is and the view to be outstanding. We would leave each day to do something (whale watching tour / ATV etc), come back for a relaxing afternoon by the pool and then go back to town to watch the sunset and have dinner. The drive takes around 15-20 min from the main road, but was well worth it! The wildlife around the property was abundant. We saw toucans, monkey, tons of butterflies, coati and many other bird species we had never seen before everyday while relaxing by the pool. You do need to be conscious of food and trash around the kitchen as some of that wildlife is very curious. We did have a few instances in which the electric went out, but came back relatively quickly and wasn't too much of an inconvenience. The house integrates the outdoors well. We were surprised at the lack of bugs (except for abundant cicadas).Overall - loved staying at the property and will be back again soon!

House in the clouds

Amazing, one of the best house rentals I have ever stayed at. One thing to note, don’t drive to the house in the dark for the first time. A 4x4 car is REQUIRED.

Breathtaking!

My husband and I were able to stay 3 nights at this beautiful place! It’s everything you could possible imagine and more! The view is even better than it shows in pictures, truly breathtaking! We were lucky enough to see a storm rolling in over the ocean one evening, we were in awe! If you’re anywhere near the area of Uvita, you’ll definitely want to stay here. We hope to be back one day!

True Paradise

This house is truly incredible. The first morning I woke up to the sweeping view and sounds of the jungle I couldn’t stop smiling. Pay attention to the requirement for a 4 wheel drive car. The drive into the neighborhood is no joke. If my husband didn’t have off road experience I would not have done it. The room set up worked great for us (2 adults, kids 16, 14 & 8) but if I had younger kids the separate rooms would have felt too far from the primary suite. We spent hours in the pool, watching the jungle wildlife and enjoying the relaxing vibe. Tom, the owner, was incredibly helpful and communicative.

Spectacular Ocean View

We loved this beautiful Suite high on the mountain with a stunning view of the Pacific. We particularly loved morning coffee on the amazing terrace to watch the birds and listen to the howler monkeys. We loved wine in the late afternoon to watch the sunset and enjoy the view of the Whale's Tail. The drive up the mountain to this Suite is challenging - 4X4 required but we recommend at Rav4 or better to handle the road. Thank you Doug and Hayley for a fabulous experience.

Unique house with incredible views

Paradise. Tranquility. Jungle house with endless ocean views. The only drawback was that it took 25 minutes of heroine 4X4 driving on an incredibly steep road to get to the house from the main road. That ruled out a quick morning surf or walk on the beach and back to the house. You drive down and up once per day. You need a 4x4 vehicle with good power and good clearance and do NOT arrive at night. It took us +4 hrs of drive time between house and San Jose airport so plan accordingly. The mornings and evenings by the infinity pool were magic. We saw many animals in the jungle around us.

The Perfect Getaway

The experience we had last week was, in a word, perfect. The pictures of Villa Sea Forever are accurate but do not do the view and the experience justice. We felt like we were at the edge of the world with our own view of paradise. The Villa itself is incredible, very thoughtfully designed to bring the view in and extremely well stocked for a relaxing experience. We loved leaving the screens open at night, taking a dip in the morning and enjoying our coffee with the sunrise and the views. And the location is perfect for hiking, surfing, diving, ATVs, any number of tours, the beach, waterfalls, too much to list. The Owner was extremely attentive and very helpful. The Welcome letter was very detailed and easy to understand, finding the Villa was easy with Waze and questions were answered very quickly and he gave many recommendations on actives, dining, etc. It is clear they love the place and it shows with the attention to detail and their willingness to ensure guests have a great experience. Anyone looking for an amazing Costa Rican experience, look no further. We can't thank them enough for a great week.

Home with a View

Loved this place, the master bath floor has a giant king bed with a morning view of the ocean that is unmatched. Two additional bedrooms on the lower floor that the kids stayed in without great views and a little darker which the kids liked so they could sleep in after a long day of travel the day before. On the way in Googlemaps had us turn off the highway one dirt road earlier than necessary which doubled our dirt road travel to the subdivision. The guards were ready for us and promptly let us in. Another 10 minute ride within the subdivision and we were at the lot private gate. Four wheel drive is definitely necessary. We headed out the next day and hiked the Whales Tail which was nice. Not much wildlife and lots of people, you generally park in town and directly enter the beach area with limited walk distance through the forest. Found a fruit stand on the main road very close to the dirt road that leads back to the property (Closest Dirt Road has a sigh for the Jolly Roger bar and restaurant, unfortunately didn't test it out, looked like it has some hot wings, cold beer and great views) There was another soda for breakfast on the same dirt road for consideration. The second night we took up the owner Thomas's suggestion and had Lupita a private chef cook us dinner onsite. She did a great job on shrimp tacos, a mix of chicken and fresh snapper, and a dairy free ice cream and fruit. We had a friend from the US join us for a few Imperials and dinner

Perfect get away

We were a little worried about the weather as we visited during rainy season: never listen to the weather forecast!! It was beautiful every morning and rained late afternoon. The villa is even better than presented. Lots of stuff already supplied by previous visitor (coffee, sugar, vodka (!!). It’s well supplied to cook for two! We could see monkeys and toucans from our patio. We saw a lot of coatis each day almost. The villa is well ventilated at night so you sleep well. Morning comes early with the birds! The ride up to the villa is a little nerve wrecking the first time. Afterwards you get used to it the very next day. Be sure to specify automatic transmissions! I got a shift stick and it was a thrill but you need to be proficient. Do not go up that road on a shift stick if you are nervous of inexperienced! I recommend the jolly roger bar going up! Beautiful view and Absolutely amazong wings / cocktails. Tom gave us great info and useful tips. Beautiful trip, beautiful view, charming villa!!!

It truly was a "dream" suite

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Dream Suite. - The view is amazing. - The drive to the cabin was a novel adventure. The first time up the mountain was slightly intimidating but we soon got used to it over our six day stay and after a few times up and down the mountain, it was no big deal at all. A four wheel drive is required but it was no problem to rent one (we used Adobe). I would strongly suggest your first time arriving at the property be during the daylight hours to save yourself unnecessary stress during your vacation (the property owner strongly encourages this a well). But please don’t let the mountain drive discourage you from considering this property. The drive is super cool and our experience of such is one of our most memorable during our stay in Costa Rica. - The structure itself was so unique. I loved the wrap around deck and the shower with a view! - It’s extremely private, peaceful, and romantic. - Great outdoor cooking cart. - The glass front of the cabin provided a safe place for endless wildlife entertainment after dark. We got to see some really cool bugs that landed on the glass and on the deck. We had several visits from coatis that came to eat the cicadas on the deck. - We saw a troop of white face monkeys pass by one morning and enjoyed several visits from toucans as we sat on the deck enjoying the view. - There is no air conditioning but we didn’t feel a/c was necessary. By opening windows and using the ceiling fans to cool the suite down, we were able to sleep quite comfortably. - The Jolly Roger (you pass by it during the drive up the mountain) is a great place to gather and make new friends in the area. - During our stay, we enjoyed several restaurants and tours in the area. We did a fantastic ATV tour and a couple of great stand up paddle board tours. - The location is part way between Uvita and Dominical which is handy for enjoying both areas during your stay at the suite.

Words cannot describe....

Serenity...Tranquillity...these words are understatements. The wildlife experience is amazing. The picture of the Coati that you see in the listing...you will most likely see him during your visit...cute little fella (don’t feed any wildlife by the way). I saw a variety of birds, including two very pretty Tucans. You almost have no need to do sight seeing tours. The bed was comfortable, the water temperature was perfect and so was the water pressure (some rentals don’t have hot water...this place does). It took some getting used to the complete silence and darkness (being from the city) - but by the thirds day I felt right at home. There are very kind as friendly security guards that monitor the gate and lock it at a certain point at night so you feel very safe (there’s only one guard at a time...I don’t want to give the impression that this is a scary environments). As a matter of fact I felt safer in CR than I’ve ever felt in the States....ever! I never locked the door....coming or going and felt completely at ease. There was a washer and dryer, cleaning supplies, soap, oh and even beach towels - which I thought was a nice touch. DO NOT ARRIVE AT NIGHT. I’m a very experienced driver when it comes to the mountains and I promise you WILL regret arriving at night - Once you’ve been up and down once or twice, however, you’ll be fine. It’s literally takes 15 minutes to get down the mountain so be sure to keep that in mind if you have plans to catch the sunset, get a massage or anything else requiring a time commitment. A 4x4 is a must. Don’t even consider not getting on. Period. John, the property manager stopped by to say hello and make sure all was well. I had to call him on my first night because I arrived at night and got lost - he answered the phone each time I called and got me to safety. Let me reiterate....DO NOT arrive at night- you’ll think that your being setup for a murder...or that the road is going to drop off into the mountains. Lastly, I highly encourage you to visit Jolly Roger and Scala. JR is a good time, family oriented, kick you sábeles off and chill/dance kinda place. Scala is a bit more upscale and quiet atmosphere. Both are worth visiting. Well...I could go on but you’ll just have to experience the Pira Vida life so yourself. Oh...there’s no TV amd quite honestly, you won’t miss it nor will you need it. It allows you to completely disconnect and reset. Doug the owner kept in touch and made sure the trip was a pleasant ex

Pluses and minuses, but more pluses.

I didn't want to give three stars, but you can't give 3.5. Short summary is that it loses a star for the drive up to it, and another half for saying that it has air conditioning in the listing when it doesn't. The view is nothing short of breathtaking, as you can see from the pictures. The main problem is that it's so much trouble to get up there (between 15-20 minutes of fairly intense uphill or downhill driving; and I mean the sort of uphill where you are pressed into your seat as you go up, and you can't see the road over the hood of your car when you turn onto Isla road), that once we got up, we didn't really want to come back down. So that means that we weren't willing to run back to the condo very easily for a shower or to change clothes...we would go out in the morning, do activities, and then come back for good in the late afternoon. I'm not saying it was impossible to go back out at night, it just wasn't worth it to us to do so, even when we kind of wanted to. I was trying to keep the wife happy, ya know. We had a stressful time finding the condo in the dark the first day in, and neither the owner or property manager were there to answer our calls. To assist others in the same situation, use Google Maps and navigate to the "Bar Jolly Roger Puntarenas"); that will save you a lot of grief trying to find where to turn off of the main highway in the dark, where all turnoffs just look like a small driveway; trust me, it's hard to see. Also, we didn't know the right thing to say to the person manning the gate (into Costa Verde Estates); we weren't told. And he didn't speak English, we didn't speak Spanish. For others, the right thing to do is to give the owner's name and lot number. At least, that's what got us in. The stress of the drive itself in the dark, getting semi-lost, not knowing how to get in, and finding out that there was no A/C and we had to leave the doors open while we slept to stay cool, lead to a very unhappy wife (that first night, anyway). She was nervous about bugs, snakes, or whatever else her imagination could conjure that might live in the jungle. I like the adventure and enjoy a little uncertainty, but she definitely does not. So my best advice is that if *both* of you are adventurous, this place is for you. The view is outstanding. If not, maybe not. The price is certainly right, which was appreciated. The condo was clean and had no problems in that arena. A small microwave would have been great.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! SPECIAL EXPERIENCE!

Extraordinary is the word that comes to mind. We loved this place from the view to the energy to the vibe to the privacy and tranquility. If you want to get away to a stunningly beautiful and serene place, this is it. You DEFINITELY will NEED a 4x4 to access the property from the highway. So worth it though!!!! Owners are extremely attentive, thorough and responsive. This Balinese Limosan is truly spectacular in every way. We were so grateful to have this experience and to witness beautiful Toucans off the deck each day, hear the Howler Monkeys and the privacy and freedom to shower outdoors in nature. Highly, highly recommend. It’s so worth it.

Long Road to Paradise

This spectacular home is where the glory of a hundred-year-old Balinese Limasan meets the modern amenities of a luxurious outdoor shower with the most stunning ocean views! Just come prepared for the road to get there, which can be a bit scary, especially when you come home after dark and the fog has rolled in! A very good four-wheel drive is a must. Due to the location, plan to either stock up on groceries and chillout for a few days (nothing wrong with that), or if venturing out, plan to be out for the day. Don’t plan to go hiking or swimming at the beach, etc. and then go back to shower before heading out again for dinner. One trip down, and one trip up the hill is enough for a day. But the beauty, and peace and quiet of this location make it more than worth it! Very private and luxurious. Lastly, the host, Thomas, was super responsive and accommodating.

Spacious and open with everything drawing you the beautiful view. The space is perfect, only what you need and amazing details in the construction and decor. The perfect get away house. You need a 4x4 to get to the location as it's up in the steep hills on mostly non-paved roads. The power went out once but only for a short time.

Amazing place and views, but a journey

The house was beautiful and well appointed. It is magical to wake up from your bed and see the Pacific! The location provided beautiful views and intimate privacy but you have to be willing to take a 15-20 minute harrowing drive one way to get to the house or back to the main road. This makes a daily “daytrip” the most plausible option where you leave in the morning and return after dinner. We got evening rains regularly so the drive back up was even more interesting. The area is fantastic however, with many different beaches, nearby towns and restaurants.
