About this property

Mt Hood Townhouse. 3 bd end-unit. Hottub & Pool

Welcome to my Mt Hood Townhouse.

3 bedroom townhouse in Collins Lake Resort, with shared heated pool and 2 hottubs. Just a 5 minute walk to the heart of Government Camp. Heated tandem garage on entry level. Kitchen, dining room, living room with gas fireplace, and half bath on 1st level. Master bedroom with queen bed and full bath, 2nd bedroom with queen bed, 3rd bedroom with bunk beds, and shared full bath. WiFi, cable TV, BBQ, well-equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, snowshoes, and sleds.

Covid Update: The heated pool and two hot-tubs are open again! The hottubs are limited to one household at a time. Masks should be worn when not in the pool or hottubs. All cleaning is done by my roommate or myself, rather than a cleaning crew. We are both fully vaccinated. Between guests, we run the furnace in fan-mode with a MERV 12 air filter that is changed every two months. We also run a portable air purifier with HEPA/charcoal/UV filtration.

More Details:
Just a 5 minute walk to the heart of Government Camp! Although only an hour from Portland, its 4000 feet elevation makes it seem a world away: a gateway to all that Mt. Hood has to offer. In winter, downhill skiing, sledding, tubing, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, or just sitting by the fire in a winter-wonderland. In summer, some of the best hiking in the country, including the Pacific Crest Trail. Our favorite, Mirror Lake and the peak of Tom, Dick and Harry, whose trail-head is just a mile down Highway 26.

Of course, what is a vacation without relaxing in a hottub! Collins Lake Resort features the Creekside Lodge with free wi-fi, sauna, pool (88F), hot-tub (105F), and a mini pool set in the woods (101F). There are also trails through the 28 acres.

The townhouse is an end-unit, with extra windows to let the sunshine in. It is on 3 levels, so there are some stairs to navigate. First floor has a 2 car tandem garage and laundry (wash/dryer). Second floor has the kitchen, dining area, living room, a halfbath, and a balcony with a BBQ. Third floor has the master bedroom with a queen-sized bed and private bathroom, 2nd bedroom with a queen-sized bed and views of Mt. Hood. Since this is an end-unit, it has a 3rd enclosed room with a window, that has a twin-size bunk-bed. There is a second full bathroom on the 2nd floor.

Some might call this a chef's kitchen. We certainly make sure that the kitchen is well stocked,. It has a gas stove, full-size fridge with ice-maker, microwave, and dishwasher. There's also a toaster, a blender, a coffee grinder, and a great selection of pots and pans. We even stock some common spices, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, creamer, tea and coffee.

The balcony and master bedroom face SkiBowl. They also overlook highway 26, but with the door/window closed, you can barely hear the cars.

The unit comfortably sleeps 4 adults and 2 children, in the 2 queen and 2 twin beds. There is a sofa bed in the living room that can sleep two additional guests. If there are more than 6 guests, there is a $10 per person per night surcharge.

We also stock 2 pairs of snowshoes, and several children's sleds. There is a flat screen TV, DVD player, WiFi, cable, a selection of movies and books.

No pets are allowed. Smoking is not allowed in the unit. No parties.

The Mt. Hood Express bus goes from Sandy to Timberline Lodge, with stops in between, including at Collins Lake.

Ski Vacation

Great launching pad for Mt. Hood Meadows (15 min. Drive). Stayed 5 nights with friends. • Well equipped kitchen- thank you for oils, spices, foil, etc… • Comfortable living spaces. Deck and living room look toward Ski Bowl- beautiful at night.• Bedrooms: Primary has great view over the highway to Ski Bowl (beautiful at night). Highway was noisy with trucks throughout the night (so noise sensitive guests may wan one of the other rooms). Bunk beds work well, but best for shorter guests. All beds were very comfortable. Rooms have great privacy.• Balcony/deck has room for four- larger than expected and great views across the highway to fields and Ski Bowl.• Host: Very responsive and notified us that we could check in early (great as we arrived an hour early). Host “gets it” and has set up this condo with everything thought out.• Hot tub/pool: a short (2 minute) walk away.• Restaurants/bars: a longer (15 min. walk or 1 minute drive)

cozy, convenient condo close to ski areas

We really enjoyed staying in this spacious, clean and comfortable condo. The beds and living room furniture were comfortable and nice. Well equiped kitchen. Thoughtful treat basket and supplies for home. Convenient garage for storage and car protection. Nice clubhouse with big hot tub surrounded by trees that we used daily after skiing. 20-30 minute drive to two XC ski trail systems, very convenient. Nice neighborhood with restaurants and market close by. Great overall experience!

Wonderful

This is a great place to stay! The condo was great - the beds were comfortable, the living room was extra cozy with the fireplace going, we had fun with the foosball table in the garage, and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tubs. It's in a great location, close to town, hikes, and tubing. We'd definitely stay again.

Perfect Weekend!

This unit is so lovely, and the setting is magical. There was fresh snow when we arrived, making the hot pool in the forest that much more special! The unit itself is perfectly appointed, with everything we needed for a lovely stay. We did some exploring (Mt. Hood, so nearby hiking at Zigzag Falls) and otherwise just enjoyed relaxing in the rental because it was so perfect. Thank you Peter for being so responsive and accommodating!

Great place, organized for your convenience

I have never stayed at a vacation rental that was better organized than this place. The host Peter responded quickly to any questions and has focused on every detail. The kitchen is stocked with the staples you need, rooms have ceiling fans, with all switches labeled. Peter was able to adjust my dates and checkout time, He simplifies the requirements for pack up and checkout, and he promptly mailed my left-behind phone charger to me. Compared to the other condos I have seen at Collins Lake resort, this has more amenities, is more tastefully and usefully furnished, and as an end unit has more windows and much more light. The location of the complex is convenient, walkable to the restaurants in town. There is traffic noise from Highway 26 which passes nearby, with trucks and cars passing through at all hours. This probably affects all of the units at the Collins Lake complex, though may be louder at the units like this one that are in the southern half of the complex. The windows are double-paned and it didn't bother my family's sleep, but if you are a light sleeper you could consider ear plugs or a sound machine.

Epic ski break

We came to Government Camp to ski at Mt. Hood Meadows. The condo was PERFECT. There was more than enough room for the 4 of us. EVERY light switch was labeled and made it so much easier. The kitchen was well stocked. We did not bring food, as I was planning to go to the grocery store past Government Camp. However, with the raging snowstorm we decided to just use the general store. They were pretty well stocked with everything we needed, and prices were what we are used to in CA. The pizza place was really good too. The leisure pool was the favorite. It was about 20 minutes (with snow covered roads) to the most AMAZING powder we have ever skied. We would love to come back, but we know the chances of having snow like that again are slim!

Enjoyable stay

Great, clean property. Close to Skibowl and central Government Camp area. Leisure pool at the complex was great. The townhouse had plenty of space for our family. And the extra ammentities such as ping pong and some snow playing supplies were a bonus but we ended up not using them. Would love to stay here again and recommend to others.

Great Weekend Getaway

This property was perfect for our family getaway to the snow. Communication and check in was seamless. We picked up groceries on the way and were able to cook all our meals. Getting to Meadows was quick and when tubing was sold out we were able to utilize the sleds at snow bunny. All in all it was a quick weekend but I wouldn't hesitate to book again upon returning.

About the host

Host profile image
I love living in Portland, and taking advantage of the many hiking trails during the summer and beautiful beaches, and skiing during the winter. I love to travel, where I like to visit major cities around the world. I work at OHSU as an associate professor.

Why they chose this property

I've always enjoyed staying in mountain chalets during the winter, and so decide to buy one in Govy. With just over an hour from Portland. I am able to visit often, even for overnight stays. This is a great base for skiing in the winter, and hiking in the summer. Plus, the town of Govy is pretty neat. Soaking in the leisure pool nestled in the trees is a great way to end the day.
