The association limits the number of residents to 3.

The association requires a 10 day advance for all resident registration. Due to the policies of the association, once we have applied for your membership, the full price of the rental will not be refunded, unless another renter is found. The registration cost charged by the association cannot be refunded. The association approves every renter and requires a credit check, which is included in the cost of the unit. The association also limits the term of your stay from 1 months to 12 months per rental period. Though consecutive 12 month rental periods are allowed.

Due to the strong demand for our unit, we ask that you do not extend your stay without our approval. At times we may be able to allow you to extend your stay for you, but please try to give us as much notice as you can. Most reservations are back to back (end at the end of the month and the next on starts the same day), which gives us very little time to do a walk through for the exiting party and to get the unit ready for the next party. If you overstay without our approval, you can be charged for the lost income from the next party who reserved the unit and any fees or charges we incur including, but not limited to legal fees, expenses we incur and lodging fees for the next party. These costs can amount to a large amount, so please be courteous to both us and the next party.

Additional charges may be billed to you if there is damage or extra expenses we incur. An example would be in the following areas: damage to the unit, damage to the furnishings, damage to the carport and storage cabinets, electric bill (over $100/month), charges stemming from requests to the association, billed items or fines from the association and all cost related to overstaying your reserved time. If you do not return the membership cards, there will be a $50 charge per card. If you do not have time to return the cards, please leave a note in the unit with the membership cards and the property manager will return them for you.

We ask that when you leave, you clean up and leave our home in a condition similar to when you arrived. Our cleaning charges are for two people to clean for an hour (two man hours). It's enough time for a good wipe down, floor cleaning and final run of the linens. Any additional cleaning time will be the responsibility of the renter.

We are very fair in our assessments and we just ask that you return the unit to us in the same condition when you arrived.

Relaxing Home away from home

We had a great stay. The condo is spacious and well maintained. The walking paths were lush and plentiful. Our host was helpful and easy to reach. There are many shops and restaurants just a short drive away. We loved our stay and hope to return.

Second floor balcony condo

This condo has a comfortable balcony overlooking a green belt with beautiful old trees, plants and a walking path. Very pleasant to sit there. The owners Greg and Cindy were helpful, pleasant and responded to issues quickly. It is an original old condo from the mid to late 60’s with some updates. We found the mattress in the main bedroom old and uncomfortable and reported this to Greg who said he’d look into this again. The King bed in the second bedroom or study, was a trundle bed with old mattresses that didnt match in height and were also uncomfortable. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped with a new refrigerator but old range. Being in Laguna woods is a positive with all activities and amenities available. Neighbors are quiet and respectful. All in all, we spent 5 pleasant weeks there.

Good Service

The owner was very accommodating with our schedule which constantly changed. He even came from Pasadena to open the door when it was locked before we arrived. The master bed was very comfortable. Neighbors are very friendly. Kitchen is a little old, but usable.

Clean and Affordable- Could be a "5"

This unit is overall very livable and in a nice neighborhood. It was very clean, the bed was quite comfortable, and we enjoyed the green space out the back balcony. For the price, it's a good value. You should be aware that the en suite bathroom lacks a door and is open to the bedroom. Also, the "king bed" in the listing is actually a daybed. Given our monthlong stay, the kitchen is functional but not well supplied for actual cooking (ie lacking bowls, baking pans, etc.). Our main suggestion is to improve the customer service for renters: a broken TV took a week to replace and the check in was delayed two hours while the owners were cleaning the unit. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the many activities available in the community.

About the host

Hosted by Greg Kimura

Host profile image
I've been here in Southern California for a large part of my life. I lived in Wrigleyville at a very young age and my family left the city for the suburbs, where I grew up. I graduated from college with an Electrical Engineering degree and came out to sunny California for a job - and what a job! I worked for the Dept of Defense (DOD) and at the same time I earned my MBA. I had a retail, mid to high end jewelry business, which I shifted to full time in the early 90's. Our business did well and I was able to retire at an early age ... unfortunately, the dot-com stock bubble soon un-retired me.

I then started my third career - as an auto buying consultant at a credit union. It seems like yesterday, but I've been doing this for over 20 years and I love what I do. I don't like what the dealers do to their customers, so I'm a determined advocate for my clients.

A few years ago, I was asked to help with some "issues" in our community, so I ran for town council and won the election. I gave it a try and was a councilman for a four year term. I also sit on a local school board; I've held positions from President, Vice President and Treasurer. I feel that our school is a huge plus for the community and I enjoy doing what I can to help.

I've been a property owner for over 30 years! Our holdings have been single family or condos. We do much of the work ourselves, which in most cases is very relaxing for me.

My better half, Cindy has been with me for over 20 years. She grew up in Orange County (back before the expansion) and she's been in California her whole life. She recently retired after a successful career with AT&T. She's a cancer survivor (pretty scary stuff) and has had a clean bill of health for over a decade! She has a Southern California spirit and she really cares about animals.

And I can't forget our little guy - Buddy Boy! He passed in 2020 after 21 years. We miss him so, so much.

Why they chose this property

We bought the condo for Cindy's mom back in 2006. She lived there with Sugar (her Westie) until Sugar lost her eyesight and she couldn't carry her up the stairs. She moved in with us for a short time, but she really likes her independence, so she found a "granny flat" and moved in - just a couple blocks from us.

We decided to turn the condo into a vacation home. We did some upgrades, furnished it and stocked it. We've had so many happy vacationers stay with us and we're glad to be able to provide a nice home away from home!

I feel that you will find our home to be a nice place to live with a luxury feel. As an engineer, I like quality products, so many of the upgrades are probably too good for a rental property, but I feel it adds a nice touch. We plan to retire here and I want to live in a quality home. For instance, the entry way has real slate stone, which I chose and laid myself. The paint combination was also my choice - I wanted it to be lively and bright without feeling brash or having odd colors reflected. The flooring throughout the home is also my choice (less the master bathroom). I like the look of the planks - it feels both modern and rustic! And the scraped wood effect gives it a high end look and feel.

The master bedroom is set up to be a quiet getaway. The bed has a high grade, premium mattress that's both soft and comfortable. We have solid wood furniture in the bedroom - a nice plus. And I also installed a soft heat baseboard heater - it provides a cozy warmth to the room!

The bathroom fixtures are high quality. Kohler, Speakman, Delta and Grohe are just a few of the companies I chose. Even the paint we use is good quality - I found out about a special type of Behr paint called Marquee. It's the best paint I've ever used - it flows well, leaves a thin yet strong film. No fading, peeling or losing texture/sheen. And it cleans well!

What makes this property unique

I believe it's good to do business with nice people. I believe that we're nice people and we're very understanding. Things happen in life and we get it. We also hope that the people who rent from us are also good people and they're understanding as well.

We chose this condo, due to the location. The garden view is so pleasant and calming. People walk down the Serpentine Walk (the name of the sidewalk) and often they'll look up and we'll exchange friendly greetings! Sitting out on the patio is such a treat. Calm and peaceful indeed!

So, you get a safe, well guarded and gated community. You get a nice upgraded interior with quality materials. Though the inside is very nice, the outside is an unexpected treat! And the combination of both, with the location is unbeatable. Where else can you be so close to the ocean/beach, have a spacious condo with great garden views and you get to rent for a reasonable price? I think this is a real gem!
