The epitome of mid-century style and California outdoor living, you will certainly find leisure the order of the day and find everything you'll need to enjoy a relaxing holiday in this desert gemstone. Built in 1960, this home features iconic elements of the era: clerestory windows, decorative breeze block, tongue and grove beamed ceilings and post and beam construction as originally designed by William Krisel and popularized by the Alexander Construction Company.
Upon entry, the organic tones of the house with comfort you with it's elegant choice in wood and natural stones. The cozy but updated kitchen and dining area has been updated as to open directly to the comfortable living room with plenty of seating for 6-8 guests. There is access from the kitchen and the dining area to a particularly special back yard. Directly off the living room is a poolside entertaining patio with seating for 6 and a Restoration Hardware pre-fab fire pit. Curl up with a book, enjoy the sparks of the fire pit and the glow of the pool on a perfect desert evening.
In classic Alexander Construction style, your bedrooms line the North side of the home; laundry (washer and dryer) is in the hallway. First in the hallway is a guest room with a King bed and TV, then another guest room with a queen bed and TV. Those guest rooms share a guest bathroom in the hallway complete with updates, tile and a shower/tub combo. The master suite resides at the end of the hallway. You'll enjoy a large room, King bed, TV, love seat for private relaxation. The en-suite master bath boasts the same time and upgrades with a step-in shower. Slider access off the master takes you to a semi-private enclave with a substantial fire pit.
The South facing backyard features mountain views and plenty of areas to lounge and soak up some sun. The yard's orientation provides for the most sun throughout the day and maximizes almost 180-degree views of the San Jancinto mountain range. You will miss a view from almost everywhere in the back yard. You'll find a sparkling pool with a newly added hot tub, chaises for desert sun-soaking, a 4-hole putting green, boccie court, 4-burner (built-in) gas grill with a great natural stone bar counter for poolside entertaining. The outdoor dining area is covered for daytime shade, well-lit for evening poolside meals. August of 2019 we added misters around the house and throughout the back yard for summer heat relief! Please note: pool heat is available but optional so please ask us if you'll need it for the time of year you are visiting: $59/day.
Racquet Club Estates is a premier neighborhood of Palm Springs. The neighborhood is rich with architecture and history. It should be noted the city has sound ordinances that are strictly enforced: there is no music outside, at all, at any time of day. People noise at a reasonable level is certainly allowed during the day. You should enjoy the pool and your friends/family. However, audible people noise must cease by 10 PM. The owner(s) like to stress this home is ideal for a dream vacation and relaxation but is by no means a “party-central” home. Each guest is expected to be as good a neighbor as the owner(s) themselves. Special events like weddings are NOT allowed.
Guest count is limited by the city to 6 overnight guests. Parking is limited to 3 cars, maximum.
