This cabin is nestled in tall white pines with expansive south facing views into Voyageurs National Park. The 1310 ft cabin is rustic with half log siding and a pine wood interior. It is a .36 acre lot with smoothed granite outcroppings and a solid rock granite shoreline that somewhat gradually slopes into the water.
The dock is superb with 13-15 feet of deep cold water right at the end of the dock. You can catch walleyes, sauger, northern pike, perch and bass right from the dock. The dock has electrical power for charging your batteries and a light. The property is very close to Chief Woodenfrog campground (we are just on the next point south) and you can use the boat launch there and park overnight if needed. You can also moor your boat on our dock, as it is protected from the wind and we have a secure way for you to tie it off on three points.
The cabin itself is comfortable with lots of windows and a large wood deck with a Weber propane grill. It is decorated with a nice homey cabin decor. There is a fresh water tank (1700 gallons) and the water is high quality, treated, drinking water from International Falls.
We think 6 people is the maximum capacity. It has 4 beds plus two pull out sleeper couches, so there are 6 individual beds if you count the sleeper couches. There are 4 separate sleeping areas. It only has 1 bathroom and a limit of 1500 gallons of water - that is a limitation and the reason we recommend 6.
BR#1 - Queen bed. Water view.
BR#2 - Full double bed size bunk beds.
Sleeping area 3 - Pull out couch, single bed size, awesome views. This is also the game room.
Sleeping area 4 - Queen bed and a pull out couch, double size. Good views. In the main room that adjoins the kitchen. This is the best room for early risers.
The two bedrooms are totally private and the other sleeping areas are somewhat private, except that people will need to pass through them to get to the bathroom during the night.
No matter which room you sleep in, you will wake up to great views of the lake. It is a good feeling, as is a morning cup of coffee out on the end of the dock.
As mentioned above, there is one bathroom with a tub/shower and a stacked full size washer and dryer.
The kitchen has a range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, a crock pot and an assortment of pans and cooking utensils. There is enough parking in the driving area for 3 cars.
There is a nice sized fire pit down near the lake for a late night campfire.
The lake is a paradise(24,000 acres, 80 ft deep) with direct water connection to Namakan (24,000 acres, 150 ft deep ), Sand Point (8400 acres 184 ft deep) and Crane Lake (300 acres 80 ft deep). All of these lakes can be accessed directly by boat. You can also go over a boat portage through Kettle Falls and into Rainy Lake. Most of these lakes share a border with Canada. Wildlife is abundant, cabins are not. It is easy to get out in a secluded quiet bay where you are alone in nature. This is a very pristine wilderness area and National Park. Plan to spend some time out on the water.
No cable TV service is provided, but there is free wifi up to 12 Mbps and a TV monitor with a Google Chromecast connected to it so that you can cast your Netflix, YouTubeTV, or Hulu account to the monitor.
There are some restaurants on the lake that you can access by car or boat as well as some nice hikes out on the Kabetogama peninsula (water access to trail head). There is a lot to see. Find out more at the Voyageurs National Park visitor center.
