Cabin in the Woods-Your Perfect Getaway close to Beach, Dunes, Wineries, & more!

This cabin in the woods is your PERFECT ESCAPE destination. This cozy cabin sleeps 10-12 comfortably (recommended 8 adults max for ideal comfort)--called BIG BEAR and also has an available guest house --called LITTLE BEAR-- for an extra rate if you need the space (2-4 additional). This is just a few minutes drive from Lake Michigan so you can still have your beach getaway, but enjoy the private residence when off the beach. Instagram @blackberrycabin

This is the perfect spot for a reunion of friends or family. Approximately an hour and fifteen minutes from Chicago. This has the best of both worlds, easy to get to beach, while providing a private backyard space for year round enjoyment. Comfortable home style with a fully equipped kitchen (we cook a lot), lots of space, and open concept.

We supply bed linens and bath towels. We have a few beach towels stored in master bath, but it wouldn't hurt to bring more. Garage has bikes, beach gear, and a sand box to keep the kids entertained all weekend. Outside there is firewood that you can use for fires.

There is central A/C and heat. Plenty of parking for multiple vehicles (easy to fit 5-6 cars), so just bring food & drinks & you're set! Property has Weber Grill and Smoker, as well as a fireplace inside and a fire pit outside.
Beach, boating, and BBQ are all right here! The beach, antique shops, wineries, breweries, distilleries, outlet malls, and dozens of other must-do destinations are all just miles away! Very kid friendly, with toys and crib on-site.

Michigan City Beach, New Buffalo, and Long Beach are all beach destinations just minutes away.

The property has hiking trails connecting to the back yard that allow you to hike miles through the private woods. The woods back up to a train track that has a 2-5 trains go by a day, a favorite time of day for our kiddos to watch the cars go by! Occasional train whistle can be heard from indoors- never a complaint in our long history of renters but like to mention so you’re aware.

Minutes to apple picking, peach, blueberry and pumpkin farms. Three Oaks about a 15 minute drive.

Guest house (LITTLE BEAR) available for an additional cost. Please note to owner you would like this if you do, and she will adjust rate. This sleeps 4 (1 bedroom with King bed, queen pull out couch, washer/dryer, and a kitchen that includes a sink and small refrigerator.

Nice place for our family vacation!

This house was perfect for our family. Checking in and out was very easy and the owner was very responsive to any questions we had. All the toys kept the grandkids busy all week. Plenty to do and see in the area!

Great Family Getaway

Our family (8 adults and 2 young kids) used both cabins and had a wonderful long-weekend stay. The place was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked, and the host couldn't have been more accommodating. We especially appreciated their providing beach towels, and a great selection of games and toys that the grandchildren put to good use.

Our group loved the cabin in the woods. The owner Meg was great to work with. The private woods setting was peaceful. The house had everything we needed and slept everyone comfortably. The weather didn't cooperate but the backyard with the firepit, yard, and deck was a perfect set up.

Awesome Cabin in the Woods

We took a family trip for my daughter’s 30th birthday with all the grandkids. The home was beautiful and clean and was exceptionally equipped for young children. They had toys, a crib and everything you pretty much needed. They had everything that we needed to cook with. Everything you pretty much Needed for cooking to beach towels to bug spray and wood for the fire. It’s probably the most equipped home we’ve ever been to that we’ve stayed at had everything we needed. The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had. I would highly recommend this place to stay at. It was close to everything we wanted to see and do.

House in the woods

8 adults, 2 kids, lots of laughs and wonderful memories from our trip to Michigan City. The house had everything we could need. There’s a community pool, tennis court, private fire pit and area behind the house to play a little whiffle ball. We had space to hang together and spread out for a little chill time. We had a perfect 4th of July trip and highly recommend anyone looking for the same.

Grilled, cooked on stove, used microwave Played games (used some from chest by fireplace) Moved an extra mattress into the master bedroom Children lives toys and running out back of home or in front Variety of chairs it seating options for 1 year old to 80 Used the refrigerator and freezer Filled garbage and took it out to garbage containers at end of driveway Watched a college football game on the TV Listened to music on the TV Family gathered around the fire place (didn't use it) Tried to use the firepit, wet from rain and decided to try it next night Used some pots/pans and utensils, brought paper plates and cups Used some sugar, salt, coffee, a filter or 2 Washed most of the towels for the owner Quiet friendly neighborhood Close to Al's grocery, the beach, the winery .6 mi, and Fluid coffee The home provided many options for us, we were thankful.

Great family weekend!

We rented this house to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. There were adults and kids from 11 months to 70 years - and the property worked well for everyone. The kitchen is fantastic - really well stocked pantry, everything you could need to make a large meal and plenty of seating. The backyard and porch area were great for gathering in the evening and the house really felt like a home. The beds and bedding were really nice quality, so comfortable. The owners were really responsive to the few questions we had and we couldn't be happier. Close to everything but felt like a secluded cabin in the woods.

Wonderful house in the woods!

This house gives new meaning to "the owners have thought of everything." We absolutely loved staying at Blackberry Cabin. We had six adults and two kids, and plenty of room. The house has amazing space, where there's room to spread out, but also to relax in quiet. The kitchen is beautiful, and really has everything you would need to cook any meal. The outdoor firepit is cozy. The owners supply wood, which isn't always the case. We loved hanging out and going for walks. We will definitely be back.

Spacious and great getaway!

The house was roomy so offered each of our guests privacy, but also great opportunities to spend time together in the spacious open kitchen/dining/living area. We came with two toddlers who were entertained by all of the toys, bikes, and beach goodies. The professional stove, too, was a dream as we ate in most nights and were able to use the fully equipped kitchen. While the location was private and woodsy, a drawback for our family was the inability to take long walks without driving a distance first, but the pool nearby was nice. Periodic trains in the back of the property behind the woods gave the little kids a thrill but never were really bothersome. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this property to a group that wants seclusion, but a terrific place to socialize and enjoy the outdoors.

A beautiful sanctuary

This home is beautiful, well appointed in everything that is needed for a great retreat or vacation. The open kitchen, dining, living area has plenty of space for many to congregate and yet the home feels comfortable and cozy. Set in the middle of a wooded parcel, the home is surrounded by beauty. It is a very short drive to great restaurants, the beach, a couple of wineries, grocery store and just about anything you might want to experience. Sleeps a crowd without being crowded! The owners are delightful and attentive, so easy to work with. We utilized "little bear" the private apartment above the garage - great for overflow and a great separate space from the house. The kitchen has everything you need to make meals for a family retreat and a dining table for 10 - or a quiet breakfast for 2 at the breakfast bar. Enclosed screened porch for dining and a beautiful deck with two barbecues, seating and even a gas fired patio radiant heat warmer. I've been to many properties through this website, and this is one of the best. We used it for a 10 person retreat, it was perfect.

Big House in the Woods

This house was great for our family; 3 couples, 2 with a toddler and a single person. We had lots of space and several great gathering areas indoors and outdoors. The kitchen was well appointed so we were able to fix our meals with ease and we all fit around the dining room table so we could share our meals. There were two big baskets of toys for the toddlers that kept them very entertained plus a large trunk of table games for us. There’s a very nice washer and dryer so we could keep our beach towels clean. The outdoor space is very private with a deck; screened in porch and firepit. The beach was only 15 minutes away as were the restaurants and shopping areas. The one draw back to our stay was the train track that ran near the property: several Amtrack trains came through each day and evening. Overall this is a great house to rent and the owners were a pleasure to work with.

Terrific family reunion

Wonderful 4 day stay. Large kitchen with huge island to serve family meals. Dining area seats 10 comfortably with 4 extra seats at the center island. Lots of space in living room, kitchen, and family room for entertainment. Our family love our stay and hope to come back again. Highly recommend.

Great place to stay.

Our family of 11 met here for 5 days together. This cabin is well equipped, very clean, and sits in the middle of beautiful woods. There were toys for the children, a screened in porch, and a large back yard with lots of room to run. It was very pleasant.
